I researched a local restaurant for our family of 5 to eat an early morning breakfast following our sunrise visit atop Haleakala. Kula Bistro scored high ratings on TripAdvisor so I decided to stop here on the way back to our resort. OMG!!! The food...was delicious with very large potions. We ordered loco moco, hash eggs Benedict, Mahi Mahi eggs Benedict and macadamia pancakes. We travel frequently and this was one of our best breakfast experiences. We arrived at 7:30am and were somewhat concerned about getting a table given all of the hawaii restaurant limitation requirements. We were 1st in line and had no issues in securing a table. The restaurant atmosphere was quaint and the waitstaff were veey polite and attentive. MahaloMore

The folks at Maui Wine recommended Kula Grill for dinner after our wine tasting on Maui. We were blown away! Everything is homemade, from pasta to pastries with a wide selection of both. The lemon cello mascarpone cake is the best dessert I’ve ever tasted....Service was outstanding. Don’t miss out!More

We read reviews and thought we need to check this place out. It was fantastic. We came for lunch but will also come back for dinner. While the food was fantastic the service and friendliness of the entire staff is reason enough to make this...one of our go to places. I had the Reuben and it was one of the best I have ever had and I am from Chicago. Make sure of you are in Maui you check this place out. Also you can bring your own beer or wine. No charge for corking.More

Down home breakfast and lunch place in Maui Upcountry. Very different from the rest of Maui, looking more like the Wisconsin woods.

We stopped for lunch after visiting Haleakala state park. We sat outside and were very comfortable. The food was amazing and our waitress Alanna was so attentive. Definitely would eat here again!

We were looking for a nice dinner spot. Kula Bistro was close by, had great reviews, and allowed BYOB! Our meals were great, the atmosphere comfortable, and service attentive. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area!

Walked in. Around 4 pm not busy yet at all. Yet greeted is warmly "sit where you like".... We sat outside, Elizabeth waited on us (the whole staff took turns). We were educated on the menu and non-menu items... And that they are a byob...establishment and directed us to the store across the street... Love them... Oh the artichoke appetizer was yummy, mahi-mahi was the very Best... Grilled!!!! One carrot cake 🍰💃🎶🕺More

We originally found this out of the way place by trip advisor reviews. We returned this trip and ended up going for a lunch & a dinner. We brought our own bottle of wine and they didn’t charge a corking fee. The seafood risotto was...chock full of fresh mahi, shrimp, & scallops. The price was fair for the 5 star meal (actually we’ve paid more for far less quality). The lasagne was enough for a meal there and two left over meals at home. The lunch paninis were great too. No reservations. First come, first served so maybe go early for no wait. Highly recommend and easily our best meals and dessert in Maui.More

We stumbled on this bistro after touring the botanical gardens in Kula. It turned out to be the perfect place to enjoy a delicious lunch! I had the vegetable panini and my husband had the prime rib -- both were excellent! We then enjoyed one...of their scrumptious desserts, the chocolate lava cake. They don't serve alcohol, but you can go across the street to the general store and purchase wine or beer and bring it into the bistro to enjoy with your meal. So glad we found this place -- the food was delicious and the service top notch!More

You mentioned bartenders.....Kula Bistro doesn't have any bartenders. Therefore, it seemed that perhaps, the review was meant for another restaurant.
