We enjoy going to Kobe Steak House when we're in Lahaina. The food is very good but the preparation and delivery is what makes it fun. The chef prepares everything in front of you in a showy and masterful way. And usually you're seated with two, three or four other couples and the conversation gets going. It's an enjoyable evening.

Took our daughter to dinner for her birthday. Have not n Been in Kobe Lahaina for several years. The place is so tired and grungy. Too bad. We were hopeful for a nice experience. With reservations our wait was excruciating. Not a friendly staff to be found. Teppeniaki chef maybe had 3 or 4 words for us the entire night.... More

Wonderful grilled food by an entertaining chef. Very accommodating and friendly. Got there early and he began cooking right away. And yes, they do have fried rice... and it was delicious. Its on our list to visit again next year.

The cooking demonstration was OK, but nothing extraordinary. Ordered sushi as an appetizer; unfortunately it arrived AFTER we had finished our meal.

This type restaurant tends to be NOISY, table side cooking with banging and clanging of cutlery. We knew this and it was not an issue for us, but for those of you looking for a romantic dinner, this is not the place This is more of a novelty, fun, energetic experience. Food was very tasty, nice sized portions, but waiting... More

We're sorry to hear about the wait when you came by. Processing credit cards with the required chip reader has been an absolute nightmare for us. Our tech support team has been working on improving the speed of this new system. It's true that we can get pretty busy, but we always want you to feel completely attended to. We... More

We had dinner at Kobe's and must say, the food was good and the portions were not too much and not too little. The prices are moderate for a Japanese Steak House and correlate with the interior decoration and the actual condition of the restaurant.

We ate here for Christmas dinner. They were way behind on seating even though we had reservations. They were nice about it. The service was a bit slow. They charge you for every soda as well (no free refills). The Hibachi Chef was really good. Fun guy. The food is good but not great for the price. After going to... More

I hadn't been to a Japanese steak house in over 30 years. The service and food were wonderful, but the best part was singing karaoke with the locals on Saturday night! Make sure you head over before you leave Maui.

The food was overpriced and the restaurant was not clean. Our water joked that the food was purchased at Walmart. I would believe him. The problem was it had Walmart quality and pricing like it was picked at the best, high end market. They cook on open grills and the ventilation was bad, so there were several times that our... Description
Enjoy the exciting, ancient art of teppanyaki cooking at the restaurant voted number 1 Japanese restaurant on Maui. Teppanyaki is derived from "teppan" which means iron plate and "yaki" which means grilled. At Kobe, it is delivered with the style and grace of a Japanese country inn. Blend in the gentle aloha of Hawaii, you will experience an evening where terrific food and entertainment are the perfect combination. After a delicious bowl of shabu-shabu soup, your teppan chef will begin to cook up an entrée of dishes, right in front of you, cooking it to tasty perfection, while watching him do the "flaming onion volcano", one of their many culinary tricks. Another favorite at Kobe is to sit in the sunken sushi bar and order one of uncle Oku's fabulous daily specials and enjoy watching the chefs masterfully create their delicious sushi. Oku prides himself on the high quality of fresh fish he chooses from local vendors. Approximately 95% of Oku's fish comes from Hawaii, and the balance of his menu consists of exotic items imported from Japan. The restaurant décor features many historical ornaments and artifacts to provide an authentic feel of Japan, the mother country. Kobe Japanese Steak House & Oku's Sushi Bar delights visiting guests and Island locals alike. Come and join us for a great meal today!
