We tried shaved ice at several places on Oahu, but this was my favorite, and also the most affordable. The small was PLENTY for one person and cost $2.75. They had so many fun and unique flavors ... my kids tried cotton candy, bubble gum, green apple, root beer, and watermelon. But hands down my favorite was coconut cream. It... More

Everyone says it's the best. I haven't had other shaved ice, but it was pretty darn good. I got rainbow on ice cream. I could only eat a quarter of a small so it's definitely a shareable treat. I went early in the morning. Every other time I walked by, there was a long line.

The shave ice experience is a tourist essential on the North Shore. Great chill out on a hot day! And add the extras - condensed milk, ice-cream and lychees.

Had to try shave ice and was not disappointed!! Friendly staff and yummy ice. Highly recommend. There's always a line but the wait is worth it!!

First time trying Matsumoto's. Pleasantly surprise. Quite a drive (about 50 min w/o traffic) from Honolulu. Parking can be a little tough. Shave ice was very good and not very expensive. Line to order shave ice was about 30 people long but moved pretty fast. Worth the drive to have shave ice and see the North Shore and Banzai Pipeline.

It's probably odd but I have never had shaved ice before and didn't know what to think. We ordered the small tropical but they accidentally gave us beans. Who knew people ate beans under shaved ice?? The shaved ice itself was good. The beans were not my favorite. They looked like black beans but didn't have a lot of flavor... More

We saw the line and nearly left but it moved relatively quickly. Lots of flavours to choose from and lots of time to change your mind. Perfect refreshing afternoon snack.

The line may be out the door, but it moves pretty quickly. I didn't understand the appeal of shave ice until I tried Matsumoto's. The ice is finely shaved and the flavors are big and bold. To really "get" shave ice, this is a great stop, and the prices aren't too bad either!

We spent about 5 weeks in Hawaii and this was by far the best shaved ice we had. When we first got there the queue was really long but we went for a walk around Haleiwa and when we got back the line was much smaller. We nearly didn't find it as it is off the main road tucked in... More

If you are half way across the path expect to wait 30 mins. Was it worth it, yeah. Would it be as good from the place next door with no wait probably. But so much history hence the lineup. They could probably charge double and no one would flinch. $3 for a small which was enough for 2. I say... More
