...and this place does it well. Good Mexican is, like a lot of cuisines, about fresh ingredients and some creative twists on simple dishes. I had a ceviche here that was wonderful and "Huaraches" which was like an open faced taco for lack of a better description. Flavor, portion size, service and presentation were all beautiful. It helps that I... More

It was a warm beautiful day and we were able to get a table outside to enjoy the wonderful weather. My friends had different burritos and they seem happy with them. I had the ceviche which I considered just ok nothing special. The fish taco was excellent with a variety of textures and flavors. The staff was very nice and... More

We stopped by on a Friday night to find the place packed with an hour wait. We decided to have a few drinks and the bartender immediately set us up with their chips/salsa. Not even 30 minutes later, we were seated. Our food was delicious and well worth the wait.

It's a very fun vibe at happy hour. The service was very friendly and nothing can beat those free chips and salsa. I was pretty disappointed in the fish and steak tacos. I'd describe them as average. But on a plus side, they are pretty cheap for SF!

When the concierge at the Four Seasons recommends "the best Mexican food," you can usually be sure it's going to be good. Tropisueno is clearly a favorite spot; it was quite full at 7:30 on a Thursday evening. The decor has a rustic 70's vibe with macrame window treatments that immediately made us feel like we should about face. We... More

My friend and I came in a bit late for our 8 pm resso one night. For a rainy, Sunday night, the place was pretty poppin'. It was probably for this same reason that the service was just so-so. We didn't get our waters until after a while, and we kept getting wrong dishes delivered to us. To start, we... More

This fabulous Mexican restaurant is located next to the hotel in staying in. The atmosphere is great! Happy Hour is 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm and the drinks are at great prices. Loved my on-the-rocks Margarita. My husband got a draft beer for $3.00, which is cheap for San Francisco! The chips are fresh and they give you 3 salsa... More

We have been eating there for years after being told about it by one of the local actresses. Best kept secret around Moscone. Tucked behind the Marriott Marquis, a block or so from Moscone - it's heaven with salt on the rim. Much lower than usual SF prices, fresh, fresh, (did I say fresh?) everything. Hot salt chips, endless variety... More

Really good Mexican restaurant that is very popular. We went there for lunch and had a great time. Good food at a decent price. If you for lunch, be there at 11:15, at 11:30+ it's packed.

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
