Visited with a group at not a particularly busy time of day. Waited and waited for food to finally arrive. Had higher Dim Sum expectations and found the food very forgettable at best. The consensus of the entire group....

This is easily my favorite place in San Francisco. Yes, really. In a city with SO many great restaurants. This is still my favorite. Why? Because they sell pork shu-mai dumplings which taste just like Taiwan and China, all you can eat for $6. Yes -- it looks like they use the dining area for storage. Yes -- the bathroom... More

My husband and I visited this shocking place today and ended up walking out. We ordered as required and were given a number. After 30 minutes we were still waiting so my husband went to ask how much longer and was told our food was on its way and given a spring roll to tied us over. My husband wasn't... More

Dick Lee's is a family run chinese bakery making dim sum as well as many other chinese pastries made fresh daily. Many pastries are made for the Lunar New Years but available year round. Another great service is pre-made wontons which are fresh frozen!!

The outside doesn't look great and the inside is even worse. However the food is very good and the best deal in Chinatown. there are none better. All you can eat of about 8 or 9 different Dim Sum. Tea comes with it but you have to ask for it. The inside is clean but very cluttered with boxes and... More

Wandered into Chinatown from the wharf area with kids & wanted to grab an early dinner. Came across this place after struggling to find anything open at around 5.30-6pm. We were keen for dumplings and they had big steamers full of them then we saw the $5.99 all you can eat deal which we don't normally go for anywhere but... More

I got food poisoning from this place, I blame myself because it looked so dirty when we walked in but still went for the $5.99 buffet. The food is cold and just plain horrible. I felt ill for the rest of the day and then spent the evening throwing up, ruined the next day of my holiday. Stay away! There... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
