We went to Mama's on a Thursday afternoon, shortly before they closed. They still had a bit of a line. We waited roughly 30-45 minutes to have our order taken and get a table. Since it was after lunch, I went with the Original Monte...More

Have been coming to Mama's since 1970's. Still very good but lines longer!! Guest had Florentine eggs Benedict which she enjoyed. My husband & I shared Scramble & orange, cranberry French toast which was different. Variety of good choices.

We thought we came early but there was already a line , we were wondering if it is worth the wait , after we took the first bite the Florentine omelette was delicious totally different flavor I think the eggs made all the difference and...More

I had to stand in the sun for over an hour and a half to get a table, but the monte cristo was definitely worth the wait. It is a lovely brunch spot with delicious food and a friendly staff. (If I were to revisit,...More

Just had a great Californian omelet and a fresh OJ. I arrived at 7:45 and waited just a few minutes in a Sunday. Highly recommended.

My friend had wanted to eat here for awhile, but had avoided it because it was always lined up. We decided to wait it out today for about 40 mins in line outside. Once inside, we waited in line again for about 10 minutes to...More

Mama's opens at 8am on Saturdays. I got there at 8:10am and that was a huge mistake - the line was huge and I ended up waiting about an hour and a half before getting seated. That being said, I didn't have any plans so...More

We waited about 35-40 minutes to get into the restaurant and once you get in, you wait in another line to order and pay for your food. While we were waiting, we stopped over at the Liguria Bakery for some focaccia bread.....AMAZING! Anyway, the food...More

But if there's a big queue I really don't think it is worth waiting for. Queue looked fairly small but ended up taking an hour to get seated which is a lot of time when there's so much to see in this city. If you...More

We had a two hour wait outside to get into this cafe due to its size and popularity. We were recommended to this cafe before we visited and so we thought we would wait it out to try the food. The system is once you...More

Dear CRW, I want to apologize for the poor experience you had at our families restaurant, Mama's on Washington Square. The lines are a byproduct of the effort our Mom and Dad put into the small restaurant; our parents opened for business at this location...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
