All I can say is - Frangipani Croissant!!!!!! The best thing I have ever eaten in my life. Had a nice breakfast of quick and cappuccino - then cruised by the bakery case....bought some other baked goods (lemon tart, chocolate cake) - BUT the frangipani croissant - warm, slightly salty/sweet, crispy - was DEEEVINE!!!!!!!! seriously....love that place.

The line is long and the seating slower than it needs to be (lots of empty tables) so I was pleased that the food was so fabulous. Ubiquitous avocado toast had heaps of perfectly ripe fruit. I don't usually like break pudding but I selected it based on the visuals--gooey banana looking delight. The texture is eggy and not overly... More

This is not where you come by by accident. The Tartine is a bit off the touristy walks right in the heart of the neighbourhood. You come here because you heard of it and want to come. We came here on a recommendation by a welsh tea-room owner who loves the place. The cakes look as good as they taste.... More

We stopped in mid morning, it's a bit out of the way but easily accessed by metro (Church and 18th stop is only a few blocks away). We had Croque Monsieurs, croissant, brownies, and bread pudding. All very delicious, the Croque Monsieurs were a perfect breakfast with a side of bread pudding (basically banana, bread, egg, and syrup). Croissant was... More

It's hyped, it's busy. The cakes must be fantastic. They do look it! But I can only review what we had. And both the cookies and service were really poor. And twenty minutes later I just wondered why we bothered. My bad. Their bad? Who knows. Still Dolores Park round the corner made up for it.

Very popular spot with queues out the door and down the street - worse on a weekend, I believe! Pastries and cakes looked amazing. We wanted coffee and had to wait inline - we were on holiday so weren't rushing - but not the best or easiest spot.... (and coffee not great, sorry to say).

On a 3-day trip to SF, we ate breakfast here twice! Excellent quiche, traditional croissant, bread pudding with fruit topping (the small is LARGE), orange and cinnimon breakfast bun, croissant jambon, croque monsieur, coffee, cappachino. The desserts are glorious-looking and must taste the same. Communal tables; small tables, enjoyable conversations with strangers.

Decided to try this bakery for a sunday morning brunch having read about it in a few travel blogs. We knew it might be popular but we didn't expect to have to queue 40 minutes to get inside and order! Thankfully what waited inside was worth the wait - the selection of pastries is just wow! My friend and I... More

45 minutes wait on a Sunday morning at 9 AM, but well worth it. You wind up chatting with other people in line anyway, and turned out one of the women in line ahead of me was from the same area in Ohio!! I had the Double Chocolate Tea Cake and a Morning Bun. You have to try at least... More
