Ton Kiang has only average dimsum, but some of its other dishes are superb. Their version of Peking Duck, though hampered by having to work with lean American duckling, was crisp and flavorful. A vegetable dish of green pea stalk was crunchy, delicious. Interior decor is basic, and parking in this neighborhood difficult, but if you are choosing among restaurants... More

We read on line that this was one of the very best places to get Dim Sum for Dim Sum novices. NOT TRUE!. I know my way around Dim Sum, my 2 dinner companions did not. So I thought Ton Kiang, being recognized as "novice friendly" might be perfect to introduce them to the cuisine. Ton Kiang is not in... More

We make a trip out to Geary Avenue just to eat at this restaurant every single time we come to San Francisco, which is frequent. The restaurant never disappoints and the dim sum is among the very best we have eaten anywhere. Compares with our London favorite -- Royal China. Don't miss it!

Eat here at least a couple times a year when in San Francisco as have for the last eight years. Each time we marvel at the delicate and delicious dim sum. Yesterday it was the same, with 7 orders all in cellophane-like wrappers with delectable fillings. Their shrimp dumplings have huge chunks of shrimp and the siau mai is excellent.... More

Service sucks. There's no other word to describe its performance. The Dim Sums are far from what you'd expect in the Chinese mainland or Taipe etc, still they are not bad. Only make you sometimes to regret the fact you'd let yourself to be persuaded to come there. Shanghai dimplings and Tea; the rest has a way to go.

We had our food delivered to us so I can not speak as to the restaurant proper - just as to the food. Pot Stickers - Grade B+ - tasty, a little heavy and not enough sauce; Kung Pao Chicken with peanuts Grade C - bland; General Chow's Chicken - Grade D - weird taste, very heavy, way too many... More

I hadn't eaten at this restaurant in many years but used to frequent the restaurant often enough when I lived in San Francisco. The food has stood the test of time and remains superb. The roasted chicken, pan fried noodles, snow pea leaves, and war wonton soup we enjoyed were all excellent. But something has happened to the level of... More

Kristen's dim view of this superb dim sum restaurant reflects badly on Grand Rapids. Do they really offer menus at the Grand Rapids dim sum restaurants? Are there dim sum restaurants in Grand Rapids? Of course when they ask if you would like the dish being proffered they are going to charge you when they serve it. That's the way... More

I read about this restaurant as a great place for dim sum newbies to try. I am not a newbie in general, but have never had it in San Francisco. I thought it would be more authentic than our midwest dim sum places. The food was pretty good - the potsickers were great - but we felt judged and uncomfortable... More
