This is one of the few places you can still get a full course Italian dinner. Anti-pasta, salad, soup, pasta, main course, dessert and coffee all for around $20.00. Many meat, chicken, pasta, fish, and vegetarian entrees to choose from. This art deco style restaurant with white tablecloths has been run by the same owner for nearly 40 years and... More

Husband described chicken parmigiana as OK but not great, and that's how I would describe my chicken picatta. Mid sized portions but priced for larger portions. We would rate "good" on a neighborhood scale in a city with high end selections all over town. Nice friendly staff. A comfortable feel to the place though slightly worn.

Excellent service, great cocktails and wines. Enjoy the calamari steak dinner among the many choices. The owner is always gracious.

I loved this place. A 50s decor that resembled an ballroom, white tablecloths, lovely service and a friendly manager, and excellent food - a real, five-course Italian meal. Four of us ordered different entrees, and all were delicious. Mine was a beautifully done veal piccata. I shall return on every visit to San Francisco.

We stepped into dream world last night which exists, completely tucked away from present day, on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco. It is a family style Italian restaurant called Villa D' Este. This is a 1950s dining experience wrapped up in a beautiful 1930s art deco package. It felt like we were walking into the set of some Busby Berkeley... More

When you open the heavy steel door, it's like opening a time capsule and stepping back into the 1950's. It smelled like it,too. Lots of elderly guests, who seemed to be regulars. Service was slow. Food was mediocre. The one thing I loved was the live music- piano, and a delightful lady jazz singer. There is still hope for this place.... More

After reading some not so nice reviews online, I made a promise to myself to make a good review of this restaurant if I had a good experience. For a young 30 something, like myself, sure this place is old school but I had a really nice family meal here. As I looked around me I saw lots of other... More

I came to san francisco to visit some family. They suggested we come here as they had been coming here years (my great grandmother used to love this place when she was alive). This was their last time they will ever dine here. The food and service was terrible. I ordered pesto pasta which was watered down and didn't taste... More

Went here for Valentine's Day 2013. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! We had reservations and just had to wait a few minutes for a table, so we ordered from the bar. After we were seated, we sat there for 25 minutes without any wait staff EVER coming to the table. We wanted to get the filet and lobster ($45), but never got... More
