Having had good food at a16 on various occasions since it opened I asked a group of business friends to meet there for dinner. Arriving at six we were told that since one of the group was running late they would seat us, but warned...More

Had the kale salad, macaranara, margherita pizza with pancetta. All were incredible. Only thing from keeping it a 5 star rating was our server who was just ok. Must have been having an off night as she seemed completely disinterested. Otherwise the experience was fantastic...More

Went to A16 because I had two excellent experiences at SPQR which is owned and operated by the same chef. A16 did not disappoint. The wine list is similar to the spectacular wines at SPQR and features excellent hard to find Italian wines from regions...More

A16 is a trendy Chestnut street restaurant. Expect it to be crowded and LOUD. I needed to basically scream to chat with the people seated across from me. We waited a very long time for our food. (Perhaps a polite "its coming up soon" would...More

This was a very trendy restaurant in a nice part of SF. The food was really really good, truly unique and exceptional. HOWEVER...they have a pizza oven in the main dining room and it was unbearably hot in the restaurant. It was actually the only...More

Our SF friends suggested a dinner here on our last visit. The restaurant is really lively (meaning loud) and energetic. It's also attractive. The menu is interesting and not overly large. The food was well prepared. It took a LONG time to arrive, but the...More

Wow....I was blown away by this place. It was recommended by a local. It's named after the highway in Italy where the wineries are located. The staff was very helpful in suggesting wines that were unfamiliar to me.

My wife and I had lunch at A16 today. Our first visit. A mid-week lunch today was great. We split the salsiccia pizza (featuring a delicious fennel sausage) and a small carafe of an Italian white wine. This pizza is not made with pizza sauce,...More

Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful
backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to
the Marina. Originally the location for the
Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose
remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much
of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a
world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a
jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city.

There was at least one gluten free pasta I remember on the menu. But you will probably do best by calling the restaurant directly for any special dietary concerns.

A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.
