We had pizza here. You can watch them make it if you'd like. They give you scissors to cut your pieces. Pizza was gourmet...asparagus and prociutto I think. Everything we had here was delicious!

Really nice little place that felt out of the way compared to downtown areas. Great food, nice service without being overbearing. We ordered too much food - one pizza is probably sufficient to share between two. Nice gimmick of giving you scissors to cut the pizza! Very heavy bias on Italian wines. Would have given 5 stars if they had... More

We have had lunch at A16 twice and both meals were superb. A16 is very popular and, therefore, often very crowded. But, meals and service is worth the wait. Reservations are essential, but can usually get in if early for lunch. Great location in the Marina district. For lunch the pizzas and pastas are excellent, and an excellent wine list... More

A16 in San Francisco is located on Chestnut Street in the Marina district. It's about a 15 minute cab ride (depending on traffic) from the downtown/Union Square area. The kitchen is open to the main dining area, as is the large wood burning pizza oven. While A16 has a semi-formal vibe to it, it's really very casual. It can be... More

My wife and three kids (9/10/17) were on vacation in SF and read about this place. Even my local friends referred me saying "the kids will love it". Well, $300 and three hungry kids later, I left with a bit disappointment. The service is great. The staff was friendly and helpful on the menu items. Where they lacked for us... More

Great food. Amazing service. Menu has just the right amount of variety. Dinner was super crowded but lunch was much less so. Very clean and comfortable. Everyone that works there is knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. Can't wait to go back.

The menu is so complete that everyone will find something they like from pizza to full-on meals. The wine list is mainly Italian but extensive. We loved the rose.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic Italian dinner at A16. Our waiter gave us great food and wine suggestions and we were not disappointed. I highly recommend A16 if your in the Marina district.

Description
A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
