It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this gem was excellent! It only held a couple dozen people, so unless you are going early on a weeknight, you'd better get reservations. The food was excellent, and so was the service.

We were directed here by the concierge at the Hotel Zephyr. What an outstanding recommendation! We were a family of 5 who arrived early at the restaurant and were taken care of by the Chef / Owner Sam. We had been traveling up the coast...More

Love this restaurant! What I love about NY is finding delicious authentic restaurants and the same is true in SF here at Albona. High attention to quality and service without the price tag. This is a gem and a welcome relief from tourist trap just...More

Having never heard of Istria but enjoy trying new cuisine, we chose this restaurant for our first meal in San Francisco. The description of the menu being a mix of Italian and Eastern European is a good one. We arrived and we're greeted and seated...More

Went with my husband and mother to enjoy an early dinner. Very nice greeting by the owner. Menu had delicious selections. The Italian Cuisine here is from the Adriatic area of Italy. The wine list is nice and reasonably priced.

I booked for 4 people, based on reviews read here at TA. From the outside, the Albona looks uninspiring, my parents thought I was taking them to some dodgy dive bar. On entering, the place was empty, aside from a small group in a corner....More

We found this restaurant on line and based on it's history and positive reviews we were excited to give it a try. After a busy day of sightseeing we ordered simply - asparagus soup, the sardine appetizer, spaghetti and meatballs and the seafood risotto. While...More

Went here last night as my family took me out for a belated birthday dinner. What a great local place out of the way and totally old school Italian. Started off sharing some apps, squid stuffed with toasted bread crumbs, parsley, and garlic; roasted in...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
