It was cold in the City and we wanted some good Pho to take out the chill and also eat some comfort food. This is a no frills place and is usually crowded, however, it is worth the wait and the food is delicious. They have an extensive menu from different choices in Pho, to fried rice specialties, entrees, appetizers,... More

Definitely a very good change from the heavy grilled meats. The hot bowl of clear broth in the cold weather is also very appropriate. The paper shrimp and pork roll is also very fresh. Worth a visit for a change in the heavy diet.

We were craving some Vietnamese and found this place close to our hotel. When we arrived, the restaurant was full so we figured we made the right choice. Fast, friendly service. Food was excellent.

I loved this place! It's the kind of low key, not fancy Vietnamese restaurant that serves the best food at the best price. The service was fast too, even on a busy Saturday night. I had shrimp spring rolls and beef bun (vermicelli noodle bowl). So tasty, and I got free tea as soon as I came in!

It's a very basic eatery and quite busy at lunch time. The noodle soup I ordered was very good, and the service was efficient and friendly. Would visit again.

Fantastic pho and very busy little joint. Had the five spice chicken - really good. Super fast service. This is a good spot if you are staying at the Hilton - just a block away.

I have had a lot of pho in a lot of different places. This has got to one of the worst that I've ever had. The noodles were hard and undercooked. The broth was too bland - even the addition of lime and hoisin sauce did not manage to save it. Really the only thing that I enjoyed was their... More

As a young family with 10 year old twins, we've had pancakes, pizza, been to the Ferry Market etc. But we ate our best meal in this unpretentious, authentic restaurant. Great choice, great food and very friendly service!

This small restaurant adjacent to Portsmouth Square serves the best beef pho in San Francisco. Almost all the diners here are Vietnamese ( a good sign). Prices are very reasonable, but they only take cash

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
