Everything was so so good, food, service and wines. We opted for the wine pairing and the sommelier was very knowledgeable, when my husband didn't like one they happily swapped for another. We had 5 courses and they were all perfect, I was definitely full when I left.

My wife and i were walking up California street when we walked past this restaurant. it looked really cosy from the street. Our baby daughter was asleep in her push chair so we decided to go in and ask if there was a table for two available. A few minutes later we were seating and the waitress produced the 5... More

We had a business dinner here 2 nights ago and everyone was blown away. Dinner consists of a 5-course prix fixe menu with about 3 selections per course. There are also upgrades available for some of the courses at an extra cost. A wine pairing menu is also available. The food was outstanding, of course, and the service was on... More

An elegant and sophisticated restaurant in the heart of the Financial District in San Francisco. Discrete, but efficient service, beautiful plates and cutlery. The menus is relatively limited, which is likely to guarantee freshly cooked food. Mainly focused on sea-food though some meat dishes are also served. Whereas the food is of good quality, I was not overly impressed by... More

Spectacular...yes, I know. Sounds rather dramatic. We enjoyed the Seasonal Five Course Menu which included many fantastic flavors. The tuna tartare was one of my favorites. YUM Service was outstanding.

Went there for Chinese New Year with wife. Heard Chef Michael Mina was in and working. My wife asked to have a photo when the opportunity arise. Waiter said he will check. Had our dinner and as we were getting ready to eat dessert, wife again asked and was told they'll check. A gentlemen came out and said Chef Mina... More

Stopped in at Michael Mina for lunch before heading back to the airport during recent business trip. Everything was excellent. One of their signature dishes is the Ahi Tuna Tartare with ancho chile, quail egg and pine nuts. The wait staff prepares it tableside. Excellent. I also had the Maine Lobster Pot Pie with cognac-lobster cream—a fun variation on traditional... More

Dining at Michael Mina is an indulgent experience. We returned to Michael Mina with fond memories of classic dishes we had tried years before. We decided to try to the prix fixe lunch in hopes of recapturing the happy moments. The staff was incredibly accommodating, friendly and generous. They ended up spoiling us with 7 courses, when the lunch usually... More

I've headed to some truly amazing places over the years in Paris, London, Sydney and Asia and this is in the best 5. Superb food, great service and wonderful dining room and drinks. The tuna carpaccio with quail egg turned a non-tuna lover away from the dark side. Also loved the partridge dish and sashimi. The wine pairing was superb... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
