Great spot for a low key but sophisticated feel and even better for bar hoping adventures in SF. It does have that hipster vibe along the lines of "we only employee heavily tattooed people and make kimchi and hand craft everything" but it's quality so get over it. Enjoy the art of the craft. The bartender was on point and... More

Went for a late dinner and drinks gathering with friends. Wait staff was friendly, informed, and helpful. Food was tasty and high quality. Excellent beer and mixed drink list. Unfussy, casual atmosphere. Remember, it's in the heart of the Haight, with all the street energy outside. But inside was great.

I stopped in for a couple of early afternoon beers on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet. Ordering at the bar, because the barman was by himself, I got a draught IPA and settled by the window. It's an excellent place to people watch and worry for the less fortunates of San Francisco. I got up to order a... More

Very cool, to look at. Disappointingly this is one those joints where the bar staff seem annoyed that you want something and even more annoyed if that something isn't a drink they approve of. We stayed for a couple before getting out of their way. I genuinely tried my best but I just can't handle that much reproach. I would... More

Stopped by here while touring San Fran for the first time. I was blown away. The cocktails that the bartender, Niles made us were out of this world. Such depth of flavor. The food... It was so unique but not over the top. I had the duck hearts, open face "ham and cheese," and the bone marrow -- all of... More

We were taking a friend to dinner as a Thank you for his hospitality while we were there and the Alembic. The waitress was very nice and gave us a lot of attention before the meal, although less after the food came - it required some effort to get the check! This may have been because she was busy or... Not sure what you want to drink? Just tell the main man mixologist what spirit you'd like and he will, off the cuff, whip up something special. The Alembic has a restaurant as well that I've never tried but hear it's good. The bar is cool, the bartenders are super friendly and watching how they put them together is so... More

This place is a little shabby, but the food and drink are terrific. The chef raises the concept of "bar food" to a new level with an inventive and changing menu. And the mixologist is skilled and accommodating.

Dirty, filthy, disgusting,,,pick your own word. This is the worst place I've been in sometime. Crappy, warm beer and the food tasted like something from an alley trashcan. The ham and cheese open face sandwich, was so gross it was not eatable. The entire thing was just fat, fat, fat and more fat. I never write a bad review, but... More

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Haight-Ashbury
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
