Assaggi Osteria is a gem. Elegant atmosphere, delicious food, warm service. This visit was to enjoy a late lunch. Giovanni welcomed us as old friends and made a number of excellent recommendations.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Assaggi Osteria in McLean and the food and service qualify as remarkable. The Dorade and Branzino were prepared tableside by GM Massimo Papetti and his well trained team. Chef Domenico has created some amazing Italian dishes and...More

Had a lunch with a friend and the food was extremely disappointing. It was tasteless and less than mediocre. I had a better meal in a hospital cafeteria! We kept adding salt, pepper, olive oil and cheese to our dishes to give them some flavor....More

Sea bass was tough, vegetables were inedible, lentil soup was tasteless. Service was very slow. Noise level was dreadful. Especially don’t go on football nights.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal in this lovely restaurant. Appetizers included half-portions of pasta dishes, arancini (one of my favorite Sicilian treats) and a nice arugula-fennel-fig salad. Main courses were veal Milanese (the traditional preparation that includes the bone with the large, flattened thin veal), grilled...More

Domenico Cornacchia, chef/proprietor of Assaggi Osteria, taps into ages of ancestral Italian cooking each time he steps into his kitchen and brings a rich love of the cuisine that he so skillfully nurtured through the years. “Assaggi means tastings in Italian,” explains Domenico, “The concept of my menu is based on a variety of items that may be ordered in smaller portions.” Before deciding to pursue his dream of operating his own restaurant, Domenico was corporate executive chef and partner at Café Milano, for more than 15 years. His culinary umbrella also covered Café Milano’s two sister restaurants, Sette Bello in Clarendon, VA., and Sette Osteria in Dupont Circle.  For those who love Italian cuisine, Assaggi Osteria features homemade pasta’s, fresh seafood, veal and scrumptious beef. Assaggi Osteria sources whole fresh fish from worldwide sustainable sources, offering the finest bounty the sea has to offer. Produce is purchased from Amish farms and all desserts are homemade.
