Our group of 6 stopped at Joanie’s Blue Crab on a relaxing Tuesday afternoon. Five of us had visited before so we knew we were in for a fun time. Our plan was to have a refreshing (self-service) beer from the cooler and maybe an...More

We found this place on our drive from Miami to Naples. Lisa was a fantastic host and so welcoming. The food was delicious...definitely try the crab cake, fried green tomatoes and key lime pie. We were in the area for a wedding and we made...More

Not many places to eat in this part of Florida. Slim Pickens to say the least! With that said, the competition is nil and the bar is not set too high, unless you consider Joanie’s as the top of the rung. It looks like a...More

This place is a riot!! It's an old shack on the side of the road with no A/C and lots of pictures of naked women...LOL. Definitely a biker destination and an old Florida cultural experience for the rest of us. The crab cakes are the...More

This is a must-see stop along the Tamiami Trail as you travel that highway through the Everglades. A classic joint. Laid back atmosphere. I ordered a beer and was told to get my drink out of the fridge/cooler. I ordered the sampler (which did include...More

Joanie's has a rustic decor, parking, good service, unpretentious seafood menu. Today, there is more sight seeing, fishing and less smuggling.

We enjoyed the local food at this restaurant. We did not look for other restaurants as there aren’t any within 40+ miles.

I suggest that it be left alone. It is a bit of Americana as it is, and a neat surprise for a wanderer looking for sustenance while on the road.
