This place is around the corner from us and had decent food but it closed recently. There is a new restaurant there now in the space. Have not been yet but the outdoor patio is always a nice spot for drinks or dinner.

Visited with a friend on a Friday night. Bar Lola is a nice basement/first floor place with a great patio, and fun ambiance. The drinks are inventive, delicious and lethal. The tapas are kind of hit or miss--shrimp in sizzling olive oil is always great, empanadas are flaky and very good, but the meatballs are a bit bland, I'm not... More

My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner since we had always wanted to come here. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a pitcher of red sangria. I ordered the Patatas Ali-Oli (roasted red potatoes with a spicy and garlic sauce) and the Albondigas (meatballs in a red sauce with cheese). I enjoyed both of these dishes, especially the... More

We love to stop here for a fantastic cocktail (full glass .... large glass .....just the way we like them) and some great tapas. Everything is good (really). We love to croquettes and the smoked salmon dish is incredible.

Visited this restaurant during our recent trip to Boston. Very nice, little neighborhood place located on the bottom floor of a business/apartment building. Our server, Henry, was great! He was attentive and very helpful with questions about the menu and the area. They have a bar area for getting together for a social cocktail and seating inside and outside patio... More

I'm giving this restaurant the benefit of the doubt by rating it at a 4. The food was actually very good, and Bar Lola offers a wide range of tapas. However, I was completely underwhelmed by the service. Our waitress was inattentive, and at times even rude. I'd like to think that this experience was a one-off though, and because... More

If you want to be transported to Spain while still in Boston, just go Bar Lola. It has the authentic Spanish vibe, both with its decor and food. They also have a lovely two-room area to one side where you can hold bigger functions. It also has a lovely bar area. It's a great neighborhood restaurant and it is highly recommended.

Food was amazing, tapas were easy to share, ambience was well lit and warm. Service was great, though they were pushing us a bit too much to order while we waited for the rest of our party (had a reservation, we arrived a bit early). Would still recommend for parties of 5 or less!

I struggled with giving such a low rating, but the prices they charged for the plates really sunk the rating. The quality of the food was about what you'd expect if it came free with a drink. It wasn't horrible, but it was nothing special. The glass of tempranillo I ordered was heavily oxidized. The menu does have lots of... More

I love the location of Bar Lola which is at the corner of Dartmouth Street and Boylston Street. This means it is just off busy Newbury Street, and as such, is removed just enough to feel special and private. It is right across the street from the lovely Commonwealth Mall (designed by Frederic Law Olmsted and part of Boston's EMERALD... More

It is the philosophy of BarLola, where one can simultaneously drink, enjoy Spanish music, mingle, and eat ones way round a wonderful gastronomic spectrum. It is our goal to make sure that we only serve authentic dishes that are as close to the original presentation and taste as those you would find in different regions of Spain. We have a fantastic selection of wines, cavas, beers, and other signature cocktails to accompany your meal. We make every effort to ensure that the majority of our key ingredients are imported from Spain. Our kitchen team members come from Spain, descendants of Spain or of Latin ancestry to ensure authenticity and standards. ***NOTE: Every Sunday evening we have live Flamenco shows Sunday Night at 8pm. Please note that there is a $20 minimum per person (toward food and drink) for the show. It will be assumed that all reservations made 7pm and 8pm are for the show. If you will not be joining us for the show, please let us know*

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
