Very good seafood. Slightly more limited menu than other options but a very cool spot. Fantastic lobster bisque. Really, everything is good and it's hard to go wrong.

David, it's great to see that you love our food, especially the bisque! We have a lot more offerings of fresh seafood, so don't hesitate to order from us. Can't wait to see you back for more! Yours, The Hooks More

Old fashioned -- casual plates and utensils. Eat inside or outside. Fresh fresh seafood. Busy. Competent service, friendly, but of course a bit rushed. Try it, you'll like it!

The lobster roll was probably the best thing I had in a long time, big chunks of lobster and outstanding bread. The soups were also really terrific. Great environment, even though it was a little crowded. Overall, amazing place.

It really took the cake that our lobster rolls were the best food you've eaten in while. We definitely can't wait to see you back for more of that sweet, sweet lobster, and plenty more of our soups as well. Yours, The Hooks More

We visited Boston in early November for my husbands 50th. We loved our stay and this was one of the highlights. Warm service, great food and the chance to see the biggest lobster imaginable was wonderful. Please go and check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

We ordered a lobster roll and it was very fresh. The bread was warm and nice. They were generous with he lobster meat, and I asked for extra bread that he gave me for free. I will come again!

We've had the pleasure of dining here a few times. We come to Boston once a year (Always in the summer) Most recently July 5th. Food was wonderful, seasonal cocktails delicious, and ideal weather. Great Service.

Needed a break from ABX (Architecture Boston Expo), so I walked about 15 minutes to James Hook. It was nearing their closing time when I arrived (around 3:30pm --- they close at 5:00pm) It's not a big place, but it's easy to find at Atlantic & Seaport intersection; inside the small building are tanks of live lobster, crab and other... I'm not a big lobster fan so I can not really rate the roll. I had a few bites of my husbands and thought it was good, just not like whoa. He liked it too, I was just expecting to be blown away into the harbor with it...didn't happen. We ordered the lobster bisque which had a funny liquor taste... More

Never get the regular size 'cause you'll regret not having another bite or two of heaven. Fresh, sweet, pure New England lobster with a dash of mayo. Mother Nature made them perfect. Don't mess with her recipe. Yum. Take your roll to the waterfront (away from traffic) and enjoy.

This restaurant is a small trailer located in a parking lot by the water (but a blocked water view so don't expect a great view while you eat). It has limited indoor seating and some picnic tables in the parking lot (although it was a little chilly for us to eat outside so we hovered over people until they left... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
