If you are heading to or from Fenway, or just happen to be in Kenmore Square, this is the place for a bite. We like this restaurant much better than Eastern Standard. Both restaurants are in the Commonwealth Hotel. Both are good. This one is special. Outstanding chowder. Great lobster roll. The fried clams were as good as I have... More

The food, the buzzy atmosphere, the wine list, the service - everything was top notch from top to bottom. I could only get a 5:30 reservation on a Saturday but the place was still packed and the bar and tables turned over fairly quickly. We had oysters and GIANT shrimp cocktail to start, some of the best I've ever eaten... More

This is our 'go to' spot for a special dinner. The oyster bar always has fresh selections and service has been good. It is very popular place - so even with reservations we end up waiting during peak period. This time we enjoyed oysters, lobster bisque and the 'fish & chips'... all were delicious. The lobster bisque though was the... More

Nice ambiance and very friendly staff. On top of that the food was outstandingly good. Weather it was seafood e.g. Bostons famous Lobster Roll or Chowder or a regular burger. All in all the prices were suitable for the quality and region. Only (good-bad) thing was, that the preparation of the food was crazy fast. Meaning we had some bread... More

Thanks trip advisor.....without you I would have never found this place! After a Sox game we wanted oysters and tried on Island Creek. We did not have a reservation, but we're lucky enough to get a bar seat. We dove straight into the oysters. We tried a variety, but the Island Creeks were the best. My husband had the lobster... The lobster comes in large rolls, but not enough lobster. The lobster was good but it should fill the roll. Had two issues with the fried clams. First the batter was not cooked enough and the clams were very small. For what they charge I did not feel I got my money's worth.

We went on a Friday night and had Oysters, salmon crudo, a few drinks. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very cool, the servers attentive and friendly. Plus the drinks were awesome. I recommend the Island Creek oysters, the biscuit/cornbread, and the fries. I also recommend getting a reservation on a weekend!

Very few times have I had a restaurant meal where every course was uniformly strong. Usually, even in the best places, something or other isn't quite as good. Not so with my dinner tonight at the Island Creek Oyster Bar. We started with oysters, which were briny, fresh, and flavourful, really fine. Then I tried the Lobster Roe Noodles, which... More

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighbourhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
