Thought the food was great. Good vibe. Had a reservation and everything was on time. Was loud, though, so if you have a large group, will be tough to hear each other. Small groups or couples should be fine.

We went in this past Sunday (April 9) for brunch and had a wonderful meal. Reservations: None. You can't make them. This is the one sticking point that I don't like. We had a party of 9 and anyone who's ever gone to brunch with a big group knows that Sunday reservations are standard. They don't do reservations at The... More

Enjoyed dinner here with a group of eight colleagues and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The atmosphere was definitely geared towards Edgar Allen Poe but avoided any tackiness and was actually very trendy in appearance and ambiance. The wallpaper in the men's room displaying numerous kittens at play was a nice touch for anyone with a refined sense of... More

Fun spot for good drinks and yummy bites. The burger is delicious. The cheese plate is also very good.

Awesome place for dinner that isn't too fancy, or too casual. At the waitress' recommendation, my boyfriend and I both got burgers.. We were a bit intimidated by all of the options on the menu and asked what would be the best to try. The burgers did not disappoint... We ordered the Southern Comfort burger and Our Way burger. The... More

The burger was excellent. It was the basic burger with bacon added. The fries with Parmesan and truffles were a perfect side dish. The staff was attentive and knew their stuff.

We had the poutine (basically french fries with gravy with a few curds of ricotta salata. The burger was good, and my daughter had a corn cake covered with pulled pork that was delicious. I wish the steak was available which is why I had in mind when I decided to go there for dinner. We were looking for a... More

As a new yorker, i'm always looking for a good place to brunch. As a guest in Boston, I was lucky to stumble into The Gallows (featured in the NY times, 36 hours in Boston). Every brunch item was a hit, from my 9 year old to their 70 year old grandma. Burgers, short stacks, korean chicken wings, corned beef... More

Our party of 5 turned up during a snowstorm on a Sunday for a late Brunch and the place was busy, which just shows how good it is. We waited around 15 minutes for our table to be ready, the table itself was slightly cramped but the rest of them for more regular group numbers seemed fine. The menu is... More

Like the title says, the Bloody Mary was excellent... but really, it stopped right there. All but one of our meals I would describe as a hearty "mediocre" which is a serious disappointment when you put a $20 tag on a burger. Stale fries that have been obviously sitting, which would probably have been excellent summed up the meal. While... More

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
