This restaurant was the most awful place to eat I have ever been. As a traveler, my main interest is always to eat in different places. From Asia to Europe and USA, this restaurant is honestly over price for food and service. If you are looking for a Persian restaurant, never try this place, NEVER! You will simply waste your... I went to Lala Rokh based on the recommendation of a Persian friend. Open Table showed my only two available times for my reservation, so I was somewhat surprised to find the restaurant was almost empty when I got there at 6:30 on a Friday night. I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and found the staff to be very... More

Lala Rokh is located in the heart of beautiful Beacon Hill. It is worth arriving early to walk around and view 19th and century houses and craft shops in the neighborhood. You will not find Persian food too often in Massachusetts, but if this is a sample bring it on. Herbaceous and delicate, but somehow still substantial, the food was... More

Had a very bad experience 3 years ago when was berated by the owner in front of my guests for having miscalculated the tip. Gave it another chance today...well nothing has changed. We asked for 2 types of bread. As soon as brought to our table, we asked to have only one type...."sorry, as soon as the bread leaves the... More

Our kids love Persian food, so scheduling a night here on our trip to Boston was a no-brainer. This is not a typical restaurant I would recommend for young children, but if yours enjoy traveling and leisurely, formal meals then definitely give Lala Rokh a try. The decor is beautiful and modern. The menu is extensive - including items rarely... More

Took a business acquaintance here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the menu, service and tastes of the food. A Persian based menu, there are many small plates/appetizers and dinner plates. The menu is varied from basic to tongue and liver, to kabobs, quail and scallops. Wine selection is adequate. We had the kashk-e bademjan - a roasted eggplant,... More

The worst Persian restaurant ever! As an Iranian who knows real tastes, I hope I could give zero star or even minus points! The only positive point was the Polite Turkish waiter! All things were terrible and fake, fake, and fake! It's not even comparable with restaurants like Rumi in Atlanta. Kashke-bademjun was horrible! Noon (Bread) was not real Persian... More

What a wonderful dinner. I'm Jewish, and this Iranian flavors here, with the coriander and Parsley and the spicy rice, excellent meats and breads, reminds me so much of tastes that I can hardly find around Boston, dishes that I'v missed from home. Anyone who loves Turkish, Israeli, or Moroccan cuisine would enjoy this place too. Also, the woman who... More

This is my favorite place to bring out-of-town guests. Great mixed drink and simply the most delightful food. Do I fully understand the menu? No, but the helpful staff are most generous with advice. The beef, eggplant, shrimp, trout were amazing. The sorbet and poached pear, delicious. We shared everything and agreed that we felt well fed but not "overdone".... More

After schlepping around Boston all afternoon, we happened upon this little basement restaurant in the middle of Beacon Hill. The service was so excellent and the food divine. We had a bunch of appetizers and baklava for dessert, with a glass of wine. Everything was creative and delicious. We left refreshed and happy. What a lovely hidden gem!

Neighbourhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
