I went to Monica's on a Friday night with 3 friends. David made recommendations from everything from the wine to appetizers to entrees to dessert. The food was amazing and the server David was an absolute delight!

We came across this lovely little Italian restaurant whilst following the freedom trail and found our way back to it for dinner. The restaurant was absolutely packed at only 5pm, but they managed to squeeze us in without a reservation. The food was excellent and much better than we expected. We did however feel a little under-dressed after a day... More

We had friends in from Chicago and wanted to take them to a nice authentic north end dinner/ experience. It was a perfect nice little restaurant. The food was excellent, staff very friendly and atmosphere great. Remember its small so you might not get a table. They don't have a bar so if you have to wait go to assisgio's... More

Had confirmed reservations only to be turned away at the door being told they were over booked and would have to wait at least a hour to hour and a half for a table already booked! Seriously why take reservations??

Had a very nice early dinner there on Sunday. They offer both the dinner menu and a lunch menu, we opted for full dinners. Started with a nice selection of breads and breadsticks. The scallops (favorite of the house) were perfectly cooked, and the pasta was also, Nice selection of wines, good service, and "genuine" North End atmosphere. The restaurant... More

Small. Quaint. Fantastic. Try any of the specials. First Italian restaurant I've been to where every single pasta noodle is made in house, and you can taste the difference.

This is the second time this has happened to me. I live locally and want to be able to frequent this establishment but will not try again. We made a reservation for 7:00pm and got there at 7:05pm. We were told we were 5 minutes late and our table had been given away. After some talking with the hostess, we... More

So, several years ago, my wife and I were looking for a good meal on the North End. Without a destimation in mind, we sent door to door, looking in windows and checking menus. As we lingered outside a tine spot on Prince Street, across from a bakery, an older couple exited and the man said... "Just go in". We... More

Monica's has developed into one of our pre-game dinner places in the North End. Monica's is "intimate" and there is good and bad in that. The bad is that it's small, tough to get a table without a reservation, and the tables are close together. The good is that the service is great and each plate is prepared with care... More

Wow! The squid ink pasta with seafood was absolutely delicious. As good as Italy -- and in Boston. Wow. So happy we went and cannot wait to return.

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
