Five of us converged on Uni on May 28, 2016. Uni is located in the Elliot Hotel, and has a very agreeable dining room. Great staff, great display and array of fancy fish cooked up in a tiny prep area. These guys are good. Two (2) hours after we sat down, and what seemed like an endless procession of goodies... More

Uni was extremely disappointing! The food was average at best, and overpriced! It's difficult to imagine that it's considered to be one of Boston's best Japanese restaurants!

The food tonight was inventive and totally delightful. I LOVE sushi and have eaten Japanese food in some of the best restaurants in the world. Our experience tonight at Uni was superlative and on par with the best sea food I've had anywhere (including in Japan). In addition to the outstanding food, our server, Cathryn was wonderful ---- she knows... More

1st experience was exceptional, 2nd visit was bad but not as good. hope I am not being too critical here. all but one dish we ordered was fantastic. here is the minor but still slightly annoying issue we had. the waiter was busy and follow up was poor. constantly found myself trying to get some attention while the food was... Everything was mouth-watering delicious. We can't wait to dine there again. The Aku Matsu was probably our favorite dish we tried. It was all so incredible.

I have never eaten food of this quality, with such excellent and unusual flavor and fine, friendly service. Getting ready to return.

Some of the freshest, most creative sushi and sashimi concoctions on the East Coast in my book. Having lived in LA and NY, Uni is at that level. Small, excellent setting and food to die for. Both traditional 'offerings' and very fun, unusual combinations like the 'white castle' sushi which really manages to taste just like that! Fun and worth... More

We went to this place years ago and found it superb but too pricey (really insane, unethical). We went again recently and it is still superb and slightly more reasonably priced (in fact, now price is similar to high end sushi places in Boston). The ambiance is great, nice decor (not banal, not your typical sleek, minimalist fancy sushi place).... More

Maybe all the cooks had Christmas week off but I just don't understand this restaurants ratings. The sushi was ok , but no better than more reasonably priced competitors. The rest of the food including the crab fried rice was so greasy as to be barely eatable. The Elliott Hotel is nice but Uni the restaurant is small and they... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
