You will get crazy amount of non veg variety of dim sums in very peculiar cart service. Unfortunately, there is hardly any choice for vegetarians and nobody speaks languages other than mandarin or cantonese. Good luck choosing your meats.

Hei La Moon in Boston's China Town serves traditional Chinese cuisine the way people from the old country prefer it. The place was bustling with the type of activity and cacophony of the type that reminded me of Hong Kong in my younger years of travel. Most of the patrons were Asians, with just a few of us European types... More

If you want traditional carts of dim sum this is the best place in Boston. We have been here numerous times. Two large floors, but the same service on both floors. If you are not familiar with dim sum, study pictures before you go because you get little help from the server staff.

Wanted duck and dim sum, and followed a friends suggestion. Was completely satisfied with this wonderful meal. The duck with mushrooms and veggies was so tasty, and the sauce an added touch. Each bite was flavorful and filling. The soup dumplings, and shrimp roll and shrimp hargrow were equally delightful. Will be back!

The food was good. For me it's a slight problem that I don't know exactly what I'm choosing sometimes as the carts go whirring by. Of course you can't ask as the servers don't speak English and nothing is labeled. Other than that, it's fairly priced and the food is good. Lively atmosphere.

Sizzling beef was the best choice we had. How they create the sauce is amazing. Dim sum is just like other renowned place in Chinatown, I felt. MapoTofu is not Szechuan style but the taste mild so that my daughter could enjoy. Overall the fact that my nine year old daughter could enjoy everything is amazing.

We used to come here for lunch, when the place was extremely crowded and there's a lady walking around with the cart and lets you choose your food. This last time we came here at around 4PM, because me and my wife were craving for some dim sum, and had a whole different experience, with a menu :) We absolutely... More

Other reviewers are correct, food was overly MSG'd and not as delicate as the ones I have had in other cities. It may surprise you, but even dim sum in Houston was better than what this place has to offer. Unless you have better options, I would not waste my money here. I know truth hurts, but it pays to... The food is fantastic with a bustling atmosphere, but unfortunately form me the only thing that lets this place down is that no one speaks any English and the staff seem a bit moody if you ask for something off the cart! But if you're into your Chinese food this is the place

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
