When in town for a convention, Vela is convenient for meetings, but except for the view, there is nothing stellar about the food or service.

I arrived in San Diego earlier in the day for a conference on the following day and after having trekked through airports and along the waterfront here and the USS Midway, I didn't feel like walking the gaslamp district and downtown. I found a restaurant...More

Our waitress was rude. The restaurant was nearly empty but all of the diners there were crammed into one corner. The diners at the table nearest were about 18inches away and their conversation about their various health problems and an extensive review of someone’s marriage...More

Stopped for a solo breakfast before start of conference. Treated warmly for only being one. Eggs were very good, as was the applewood bacon. Fried potatoes had nice chunks of onion and peppers throughout. Pricey.

Enjoyed the vast selection of entries and made to order omelette station, service staff really friendly, can get busy during peak times so plan accordingly. Also, a little expensive if you aren't a Hilton Gold or Diamond member.

But, am definitely glad a gave it a try. Can’t beat the patio for bay views and people watching. Service was great. Affordable, decent quantities. Ate breakfast here every morning.

We all know that some hotel restaurants are to be avoided, not this one! Service was great and food was very good. Very busy at breakfast when there are conferences in the area. But would highly recommend.
