We drove directly from the airport to the restaurant based on the reviews and the Triple D show. We weren't disappointed. The burritos were huge, the tortillas were legit, and the chips are out of this world.

Terrific fish tacos! I wasn't sold on the chips; they were very thick, tough, and needed some salt. Salsas were good though.

As per our normal pattern...get to airport, get rental car, go to El Indio, then eat. On the way to the airport stop at El Indio and eat. Drop off car, shuttle to airport, and discuss what we had just consumed. It's always the first and last meal in San Diego. I've eaten there hundreds of times over the last... More

If you love tortillas this place is a must. I went to San Diego and we stopped here for an impromptu lunch. The food probably one of the best meals I've ever eaten in a restaurant and I recommend this restaurant to people visiting the area constantly. The people were so nice and it felt like home.

Dropped by on our way back home to the I.E. just as Yasu as I remember it from my college days. Consistent quality is sometimes challenging for restaurants that have been around as long as El Indio has been. Kudos to ownership for not letting me down!

Visitors to the city of San Diego are usually not aware of this unusual restaurant. I lived in San Diego for a while so I know about it, and on this visit back to San Diego it is the 2nd restaurant that I went to. It is just the same and it is fabulous. Not much to look at, but... More

We had seen this on Dives, Diners, and Drive-Ins and so we may have had high expectations. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't extraordinary. It was just Mexican food. The restaurant was an order at the counter, get your food and sit down - just not what we expected. Meat was dry in the fajitas. Chimichanga was pretty good.

I recently returned to San Diego and visited El Indio for lunch. It's been a few years since I ate here and I was disappointed. The beans and rice were bland. The beef tacos were ok but consisted of mostly lettuce. This is a great tourist spot and also well loved by locals. And the outdoor searing is pleasant. But... More

One of my fav Mexican places to eat in San Diego. Been coming here since High School. Tacquitos and burritos are excellent.
