So good on our first visit - we returned the next morning! Loved everything we had - first visit was Homemade Granola and Diced Ham and Swiss Cheese Scramble - delicious. The yogurt complemented the Granola (which was sold in the restaurant if you wanted...More

I was searching for a great breakfast place so went downtown to where Bobby Flay had said the peanut butter and banana french toast was the best thing he'd ever had. It wasn't for me and I thought the wait was long and the service...More

A friend recommended this spot for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Prepare to wait if you're with a group but for couples we were sat right away. Food was good, service was really good. I had the green eggs and spam and it was delicious.

I ate here during lunch time and was surprised at the speed of the service considering there was a large convention in town. I was able to order the Croaker sandwich (which is technically breakfast) with a side Caesar salad. The food was delicious and...More

There's not a ton of breakfast places near the Convention Center and they do get crowded. You can get a really fine breakfast at this little cafe on the border of the Gas Lamp district. Lot's of griddle and egg options. Nice looking baked goods....More

We chose this as our first meal in SD because the menu online has Red Velvet waffles. After waiting about half an hour for our table, we learned they no longer have that as a menu item. I went with the PB/Banana French toast that...More

This breakfast place has been on a couple of food channel shows including "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". We have been several times and make a point to visit each time we are in San Diego downtown. A bit of a dive decor wise...More

We hit Cafe 222 for Sunday brunch ~900am and had to wait ~30 minutes which wasn't terrible. Sidewalk coffee (not complimentary) is available and "will be added to your bill"; a nice touch but not worth the price. The 2+2 breakfast of eggs and pancakes...More

I always go here just for the Cornbread Blueberry Waffle! It's just different and out of the norm. Always a wait on the weekends but during the week wasn't bad. Standard breakfast options and some unique stuff. Definitely recommend!

Cafe 222 has been the local dining institution for nearly 25 years in San Diego.
This quirky-corner eatery has become famous from it's many appearances on the
Food Network and for the owner who from time-to-time can be found wearing a waffle on her head.

This shoebox-size of a restaurant has plenty of seating, offers indoor, street side patio dining as well as an upper garden patio area. Dogs and kids are welcome with well-behaved parents.

Reservations are not accepted but if there is a wait to get in, it moves quickly and the staff
passes out banana bread and coffee to those in line to make the wait more pleasant.
