This place isn't bad but it's not nearly as good as it's location on the upper west side (which is One of my favourite sushi spots in the city). The sushi rolls seem much bigger at the west side location too.

I stopped in for a quick roll for dinner. When I asked what the most popular roll is not fried the waitress recommended the Crazy Tuna. Excellent tuna roll. I can't wait to return and try something else.

There are at least two movie theaters nearby and I always find Tenzan a great place to stop in before the movie - some quick sushi and a nice drink at the bar. I've also had lunch there before an afternoon movie. Service has always been quick and friendly.

The UES is a wasteland of high quality Japanese food. This place is fine. Your basic Japanese food and service. Nothing special and nothing bad. Simple and basic.

It's easy to tell the difference between the good vs great sushi places and this is a great one. The ambiance is wonderful, very fresh and clean. Before even eating a meal you start off good. The staff are attentive and friendly. I've been here many times and never had an issue. The food is consistently good, lots of variety... More

This has been our go-to Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood since it opened over 5 years ago. Other Japanese restaurants come and go, but Ten Zan is the steady, dependable, constant dining option. Excellent service is what makes Ten Zan stand out in a crowd of Asian restaurants in East Midtown. The food, and especially sushi, sashimi and maki, is... More

Went for lunch with my daughter who lives nearby. The lunch menu is amazing for the price. Service fast and friendly.

they'll always want what you want/need. Great place!!!! It's great for friends and family, maybe not so much for a date, but it's a comfy spot I end up way too often. Food is delicious and inexpensive.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
