Duck off the street and into this restaurant, and you can eat almost as if you were in China. They do Szechuan food very, very well. Some favorites include the (huge) bowl of fish, cellophane noodles, and Napa cabbage in chili oil; chongquing chicken, lamb with cumin, and an array of cold Szechuan delicacies. A superb cuisine done superbly

If you want to experience authentic Szechuan without having to go far from Midtown, look no further. Hidden near Bryant Park, is an magic wok. The restaurant is quaint, intimate, and very clean. The staff are very attentive and prompt. I got my food very fast, hot and I could tell, they used fresh ingredients. It would be my go... More

When the neighboring tables are ordering in Chinese, you've found a place locals like. Extensive menu. I wish I had more knowledge or advice on picking good choices, but what I ordered was excellent. Because this place was authentic, the decor was nonexistent, and the service efficient but brusque. Quite enjoyable.

This small restaurant in Chelsea is home to some of the best Chinese food in the City. I *really* enjoyed the Kung Bao Chicken. It's fresh, beautifully seasoned and a great value. Also not to be missed: pork bun, vegetable spring roll, soup dumplings(!) and Szechuan Chinese Broccoli. Portions are generous and the price tag (especially for Manhattan) is remarkably... More

An unassuming restaurant usually with Chinese or Cantonese spoken around most tables. Quick service. Reasonable prices. Nice portions. An impressive menu. The food is simply on the way to the divine status. Notable - scallops Sichuan style, with fresh, large, succulent scallops and a sauce that begs to be absorbed by a bowl of rice when all else on the... More

We didn't have reservations, but were able to be seated quickly, even though it was in the dinner hours. The smells were terrific from all the dishes being served. We started out with an appetizer of Stir Fried Fresh Pork Belly, which was terrific, hot but not too much. I had the hot an sour soup, which was very good,... More

The hotel we stayed in recommended this restaurant. It wouldn't be somewhere i'd recommend, based on my experience. The waiting staff, although efficient are miserable. No greeting or enquirer about our satisfaction with the meal. We sat near the front and people were coming and going, pushing past, non-stop. It made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. The portions of food are... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
