The food is amazing at this place but the best part is their consistency. I often go to Hanci for lunch with my co-workers and we always count on the same delicious taste and excellent service. I tend to stick with the usual chicken sis kebab with hummus and the coban salad. I highly recommend them for great Turkish cuisine.

Four of us stopped in on New Year's Eve without a reservation and were seated immediately. There were 4 other groups eating and it was only 30% full. We started with grape leaves and boregi as shared appetizers. Well seasoned and fresh. Fried boregi were not at all greasy. One had a bowl of Turkish lentil soup and commented on... More

As visitors to New York, and frequent consumers of Turkish food, we can say that this restaurant has to be one of the unsung jewels of the city. From the moment we walked in the door as "walk ins' we were made to feel welcome. The waitperson was attentive without being "all over us like a rash" as we say... More

We were staying on 57th street and on our first night did not want to go too far. This restaurant had some good reviews so we tried it out. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The starters of felafel and calf livers were very good and portion size large. So far so good...the mains of lamb kofte and vegetable stew... More

My boyfriend booked here so that we could have something different on my birthday. We both really wished we had gone somewhere else! The first impressions weren't good - decor basic, tabletops worn - we should have turned away but were rapidly seated at a table. Menus had numbers - not a good sign in my opinion! I ordered the... This is a nice change from the usual fare. Everything was fresh and homemade. The falafel and hummus as an appetizer were great and I loved my cabbage wrapped lamb. The service was good, friendly and the price was right in our budget. Check this little place out, they deserve it.

My colleagues and myself teach nearby and we visit Hanci several times a month. The restaurant is small and clean and owner-run. The lamb shank is usually offered on Fridays and is one of our favorites.

I was in NYC with my family and we found Hanci through TripAdvisor. Each of us really enjoyed our meals -- we had excellent food with very friendly service. This was my first time here but I will make it a regular stop when I'm in Manhattan. This restaurant si run by a family, with the wife doing most of... More

Hanci is one of my favorites. The food is excellent. The husband and wife owners are lovely and always present (to me, the mark of a good restaurant). The lamb dishes are amazing and the chicken dishes are also very good. The wine selection is Turkish and interesting. The appetizers are all delicious.

Loved this place. Fabulous service. Great Turkish wine and wonderful food. A definite must. I the 20 years I lived here, had no idea that it existed.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
