Bourbon, single malts, rum, and Scotch Eggs - my all time favorite appetizer. The cocktail lounge is lushly decorated with velvet and wood panel and intriguing portraiture. Two thumbs up.

In town for thanksgiving and was brought here by friends. Very cool spot with one of the best drink selections I've seen. Very unique, and great for small groups to be able to get together.

Perfect Flatiron/Chelsea cocktail joint. Marvellous Welcome on arrival. Great care taken to get you seated and comfortable. Speakeasy-style buttons summon wait staff. Bustling, however the space is quite intimate, either in the main sitting room or in discreetly draped private spaces. I enjoy standing by the small bar in the rear watching craft cocktails being created. Lovely space. Very Downtown.... More

Holy cow this speak easy is sensational. Look for the black door - 48. Make a reservation!!! Dimly lit, velvet couches, sheer drapes to section off areas, no cold bar stools! It's so intimate. No one on their phones, it was amazing! $16 drinks ~ and so worth it. Drinks: Garden Paloma- so good, tequila with a major hit of... More

Raines is a very intimate cozy speakeasy type of bar with curtained rooms with comfortable couch seating. It is a fun place to finish off the night with bourbon based drinks in a dark, sexy setting.

Tucked away in busy manhattan we stumbled in and were amazed. It was early at 5 and we got fabulous drinks. Vince was friendly and informative. I was taken back to a different time in high end New York. Curtains, quiet, elegant and incredible drinks. What an oasis in a crazy walking manhattan Very busy....normally need reservations. Another bar downstairs... More

Decided to come here based on recommendations from multiple sources, and I have to agree. If you're looking for a speakeasy, the Law Room is a solid bet. Service is excellent, the servers and bartenders are ready with suggestions if you're not sure what you want. Don't be surprised if there's a waitlist, but the wait is worth it. Grab... More

Look for the awning and the stairs down, otherwise you'll miss the entrance. And, you have to ring the buzzer to be admitted. Inside. Then the club feel ends. Inside, there is a maze of little sitting areas separated by drapery before you get to the bar. Lots of couches, dark and secluded atmosphere. Be prepared to share a sitting... More

Great atmosphere. Cocktails a little pricey but tasted great and worth it for the ambience. Highly recommend.

Was walking down W 17th St. in NYC on my birthday and searched for a place to go eat an found this place on YELP. Great spot, secluded, dark, back in time and great drink menu. No food but Nibbles! Which was perfect for the time we were there. Off you go searching again...

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
