Should have read the reviews before eating here. Food was okay but the service was awful. Our waiter acted like he was doing us a favor waiting on us...no greeting, no information. Needed an attitude check.

It seems a lot of people reviewing on here have never been to Chinatown. To non-Chinese visitors: this is not your playground. To those complaining about "rude" service, how would you feel if someone came to your establishment and demanded you speak another language than your primary one? Mind-blowing, huh? It's called Chinatown because they speak dialects of CHINESE there.... More

Great food at a really good price. My husband and I visited at lunchtime when it was fairly quiet, this said: We felt very rushed and bill was on table before we had even finished eating. I also found the staff quite rude if I'm honest, no eye contact and appeared disinterested. If you don't mind rude staff or dirty... More

We tried to go to Joe's Shanghai (two stores down) and it was packed with over an hour long wait, so we went here instead. It is same menu, same food, minus all the waiting. It was great. The soup dumplings were very good

We came here on a recommendation from a friend who said we simply must try the soup dumplings. Upon arrival the place was busy and the staff took a while to get to us. We ended up upstairs in a corner near a closed off window and, again the staff was less than attentive (plus there was at least a... More

Rude waiter not helpful at all. Pushed the bill in front of me and I have hardly had my first course. Many other places to eat at that want your business. Look at all the other reviews saying the same, serial offender.

Tired of the constant great chaos at Joe's Shanghai and deterred to dine there by the latest NYC Health Report, I decided to try this restaurant, which I have passed by several times in the past years. What a pleasant surprise! My only regret is not having tried it before. The food was pretty good (the Soup Dumplings were as... More

Dreadful is the word to describe this restaurant and the food. I can't think of a word to describe the service that will be allowed here. Yes it was New Year's Eve but it was about 5 o'clock and the place only had two other tables occupied. The menus were thrown on the table and immediately we were asked for... More

The waiters and I am pretty sure the one older man was the owner, were very rude. Once we walked in, there were about 2 to 3 men standing by the counter and staring at us. We gestured there were two of us and the one man pointed to the table. When I verified the table we were to sit... More

We arrived 30 minutes after they opened on a week day. There was only 1 table sat. We were not greeted when we walked in, just pointed to a table. The 2 men we encountered for service were both rude and greedy. They pointed out to us several times that the tip is not included. Even rushed up on us... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
