Stayed in the hotel next door. Ordered two whiskeys and soda and was charged $44!! I could buy litres of whiskey for that price! Had some food on the last day before leaving for the airport. It was pretty good and similar prices to the rest of new york. Some of the seats in the booths are a bit knackered... More

Food is amazing. We stayed at the hotel and ate everyday having breakfast every morning and an evening meal every night. We had the burgers, fish & chips, curry, pizza, irish breakfast, american breakfast and all were extremely tasty we cannot fault. The staff and service is faultless nothing was too much for them. Very busy in the week

This restaurant is within a small hotel near Grand Central Station. It is primarily Irish style food and has a year-round covered patio/bar. I came here for breakfast and ordered the breakfast sandwich. It was very large and the patty that came with it was an Irish style sausage patty. It came with breakfast potatoes. For anyone staying in the... More

We came for a bite to eat after a long day travelling. It was very very busy and noisy. The food was fine. Service was quick but the waiter forgot our nachos and also brought the wrong bottle of wine. Popular with the afterwork crowd.

Had friends in from out of town wanted an Irish Pub type place for dinner and so we selected this place. A major mistake. Entered the door with a no smoking sign in the entry yet two people smoking and no one from pub went to tell them move outside they were in the entry way. Watercress sat us gave... More

We dived into here when it started to snow on our trip in New York. Lovely cosy booths and fireplace welcomed us, as well as friendly staff. Lovely pint and we were on our way again.

An Irish bar near grand central station that has friendly staff and good service, had burger and beer here and really enjoyed it. Themed in the style of a railway carriage its gives it character with cosy little booths, even though it was busy you felt comfortable with your own space.

15 of us met at the Wheeltapper for a drink and a burger. They seemed a little overwhelmed at first but we had patience and soon they took our drink and food order. We all ordered a burger. As she took the menus from us, she asked each one if we would like fries with it. We all said yes,... More

Stayed in the adjacent hotel (Fitzpatrick Grand Central) and had one or two drinks in the bar. Perfect pint of Guiness.

The Wheeltapper celebrates the best of a traditional Irish pub, offering contemporary food and drink in an informal atmosphere. Together with the year-round outdoor Patio, this restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, dinner, or cocktails.

As fitting for a pub so close to Grand Central Terminal, the Wheeltapper's design includes authentic railroad artifacts and memorabilia from the turn of the century. Cozy and warm, the Wheeltapper's two bars, front and back, are comprised of quaint nooks for semi-private dining or drinking, and connected by the Carriage, a passage that closely resembles a classic railroad dining car. A fireplace warms up the back bar in cold weather.

A door takes you from the back bar out to the Patio, a 2,200 square foot outdoor garden wit seating for 48 people and plenty of room to stand and mingle. This unique space is covered with a retractable awning and heated in winter, allowing it to stay open year-round.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
