Waited in the freezing cold for 45 minutes but was worth it once we got a seat at the bar. They did nice juices, good coffee and a very tasty Croque Monsieur.

Parisian style bistro in the west village. Home style cooking. Local ingredients with well executed dishes. Cozy atmosphere with a homely twist. Good service and friendly staff. Small menu with good choices. Eggs particularly good.

If you are visiting New York City for any amount of time, you should definitely eat in Buvette. This is not just any French restaurant. It is the best one. It has a small menu, which is a good thing. The starters are the best thing, and there is usually a great rillette on it. The menu changes a lot,... More

Parisian bistro ambience with beautiful bistro-style menu - hearty salads, cheese and antipasto plates, range of egg and cheese dishes. Loved the chicken and green bean salad and the croque Monsieur was outstanding. Highly recommended.

We previously visited The Buvette in Paris and were fans so thought while in NYC it was a no brainer. We queued for a short period before being seated. We were shocked how much the food costed in NYC vs Paris for the very same things. In the end 2 waffle sandwiches. 2 lattes and 2 orange juices costed 70usd... More

We came here for a midweek brunch / lunch. Simple short and delicious menu. Friendly service and great food quality. Table and chairs are small and poky so this is not a place for long lounging. They want you to come, eat and move on. Couldn't fault it except for being a bit cold

This is a very café in the middle of the West Village. It is very popular at all time so try getting there early for the meal or make a reservation. The staff are very helpful and make amazing suggestions. I went for breakfast and ordered the waffles. Before the meal came, the waiter offered these delicious madelines. I sat... More

We enjoyed a lovely brunch in this funky parisian style bistro in the West village on a side street (there is actually a Buvette in Paris too!). We sat at the bar and apart from the drinks and the lovely food we truly enjoyed the good vibes in this place (actually on weekends people queue up outside because this place... More

Definetly an amazing brunch but better get early if you don't want to wait for 1h to be seated! Steamed eggs with prosciutto and parmesan are amazing as well as the ones with salmon. Only downside is that it is a bit pricy, especially the coffee. But still will go again.

We visited Buvette before a performance around the corner. It was an experience! (positive). This is a small, crowded place with tiny tables, stools instead of chairs, an eclectic menu and extraordinarily helpful staff. The menu consists entirely of "small plates" - 2 or three will make a meal - with some exotic choices (Lobster pot pie - outstanding), Lyonnaise... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
