I visited Taqueria Lower East Side on multiple occasions, both before and after they moved from one side of the neighborhood to the other. I have to say, though the venue for the first location was smaller, it was definitely cooler and I think portrayed the image they wished to better than their new location. The new location is more... Went here a few years ago and loved it. Corn in a cup is a must. Laid back atmosphere with great service. Cant wait to go back.

It's been years since the last time i'd visited Taqueria and it was a good surprise to find the food as good as ever. I ordered the tuna burrito a stuffed pepper appetizer and wow, they couldn't have been better. Drinks were very goos as well but leas flavorful than i would have liked (and why not spicier). The restaurant... More

Can recommend the pork and the lamb tacos. Best ive ever tasted. Cafe type place, food served in plastic baskets but the most delicious, authentic Mexican food ive ever had. Spent 9 days in NY last year and ate here twice! Really cheap too.

I went to three Taco places in New York within 10 days and Taqueria was right up there as one of the best. The restaurant is a little small and it can be pretty loud and crowded but I enjoyed my meal here. The fish tacos were easily the most delicious! There is also a nice, quiet little bar next... More

Same people that own the Jersey City outpost. Same excellent food. No chipotle style burritos here. Great tacos. Everything on the menu is excellent. A little cramped (but that's pretty typical for NYC.) Good staff. Worth a go.

This was the last stop of our 'international' cuisine tour of NYC. Mexican food is a favorite of ours, and so we wanted to try it before we left. We had heard about this place from another review site, as well. The burrito and quesadilla were great. The queso was awesome. But the best part was the marguerita! Great taste,... More

I used to frequent NYC and more explicitly Lower East Side, and I love Mexican I always made it a point to eat at Taqueria, but maybe not anymore... The food was fine, I got tacos and the table shared chips and guac, which were 4 star worthy, but the service and drinks were absolutely disgusting. Hands down the worst... More

This place is really small so prepare yourself to wait. Best option to wait? Go to the bar next door and have a beer! And what about the food? Well, the food is just delicious! I tried the Tacos and in the end I had 3 of them. Not bad as each one just costs $3! The Cactus Tacos are... More

Gotta try this place. Authentic Mexican fare with awesome guacamole. My husband loved the salted beef tacos and I ordered the chicken sopes. After walking all day, I was happy to sit down and chow down.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
