We stumbled upon this after leaving Central Park and looking for somewhere pub/bar-like for a light snack. Don't be fooled by the 3000+ favourite place - put it near the top. We ordered some "light bites", eggs benedict some boneless wings (more like chicken nuggets of breast meat - no complaint here) buffalo style and some fries. The food was... More

We met Irish friends at St. James Gate for a few well-made cocktails and perfect pints of Guinness. We delighted in our delicious apps - garlic mushrooms, boneless wings, and bruscheta. The chicken curry and shepherd's pie were equally outstanding. Prices are fair - especially considering the giant sized portions. Can't wait for a return engagement.

Went to this pub on 27th Aug, only 2 minutes from the lucerne hotel and I have to say we could not fault our 4 meals, they were excellent. Good service from the staff and reasonably priced . Well worth giving it a try and will be going again.

Having spent some time in Dublin, I can say that this is as close as a New York venue can get to the real thing -- an authentic Irish pub, but with windows! Yes, light! Great brews on tap and a surprisingly good bar kitchen. It's a stand-out in the midst of the Amsterdam Avenue / Upper West Side bar... More

This place had a great buzz and excellent service. We had a meatloaf special and the chicken St James (with caper, lemon & parsley sauce). Both were excellent and came with mountains of excellent mash and broccoli. We shared a dessert of homemade apple pie recommended by our waiter and were glad we did. Food is generous both in flavour... More

My husband discovered this place a few years ago and we make a point of returning every time we're in NYC. There's a warm and welcoming feeling to it that reminds us of pubs in Scotland. During my last trip I took a friend who was a first time traveler to NYC and she thought it epitomized the Upper West... More

On our return from the museum of natural history, we were looking for a place to chill out, we came across this place. My friends thought it was a church lol. We went and enjoyed very much. Everything was awesome but the bar tender, a skinny guy with beard was rude. We didn't care. It's a good place anyway

I knew I was in the right place when we heard Pink Floyd playing in the background, and not too loudly so that conversation was possible. Music continued on in same excellent trend (Clapton, Van Morrisson, etc...) which was a plus. Great French Toast w/ bananas, and excellent service. Comfortable and peaceful vibe. Will definitely return.

Wonderful, laid-back Irish pub on the Upper West Side! Great people-watching, good food (I recommend the shepherd's pie), and the best-poured Guinness I've ever had.
