Was here with a group of friends for Sunday brunch, only a few items on the menu and they were out of two of them, lucky they had what I wanted. Really nice food, and the flat bread to start was awesome. The bacon Mayo with the fries was a hit

Good atmosphere, swift service, a lot of space(second room at the back). Food was good but not special. Little bit overpriced.

Edi and the Wolf was simply okay. I tried the butternut squash ravioli and it was quite sweet and yet a bit bland all at once. It needed salt badly, or something savory, to make it work. A friend of mine who got the same dish agreed. Our waitress also informed us at the tail end of our meal that... More

Firstly, I walked past the place as there is no signage outside so just finding it was a problem. The Austrian beer I ordered was good, the leek soup that was the first course was not. Thin and watery and we complained. The schnitzel was better (even though it was pork not veal) and the apple strudel was OK. Bur... More

Until a couple of years ago we were fans of Seasonal Restaurant on West 58th, going there at least once every time we visited New York. Alas, it closed, and although we knew that Edi and the Wolf had a connection with Seasonal, the location in the East Village seemed rather remote, given that we usually stay in the Upper... More

Our large family group came here for Thanksgiving. The Restaurant offers Austrian fare, and owes its quirky name to its two famous Chefs -- Eduard Frauneder (Edi) and Wolfgang Ban (the Wolf). We chose the Fixed Price Thanksgiving Menu for $45 each. Our drinks and cocktails were not included in that price. Their Cocktail List is quite extensive. We had... More

This is a very small restaurant with a long bench table running down the centre and smaller booths on either side. If it is intimate you are looking for - you might struggle here. Lighting is low and decor a little confusing (what is all that rope for - no-one seemed to know). However - the food is a level... More

A friend of mine recommended this spot because of its charm and delicious food. This place did not dissapoint! I loved the decor (big ropes draped over the bar, farm style tables, and plenty of whimsical plants on the facade). I never had Austrian cuisine, but since I love German food my friend said I would love their Shnitzle and... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
