MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

As ageless as its beautiful patrons, the brassy and mirrored Balthazar should be called “quintessentially SoHo” because it invented the term. One of th...

I'haven't dined at Balthazar for a while but had brunch there today and was so disappointed. I ordered an heirloom tomato salad with peaches and Ricotta. It was awful. The heirloom tomatoes were terrible, there were 2 small and thin slices of peach and a...tiny dollop of Ricotta. I also ordered a plain croissant that was leaden. The prices are ridiculous for the quality of the food .More

I absolutely loved my breakfast at Balthazar. I ordered the waffles with warm berries, a side of crispy bacon and a mimosa. Everything was so delicious, service was quick and everyone was nice.

I came back to NYC on a solo trip and this bar was one of the few that I felt comfortable sipping my little drink at. The Bartender (Jonathan?) has the best war stories and he can mix a fabulous drink. Great energy. Shoutout to...Wales! (Haven't had the food yet because the drink was expensive enough for me. But the vibe was solid.)More

Passed by on a trip through Soho. Truly flaky croissants with high quality butter. Chocolate chip cookie was also delectable. Nice small cozy atmosphere (difficult to socially distance), but it is a bit contrasted by the hustle/bustle of the city. Staff were a bit rushed,...as were the patrons (shouting match occurred between patrons while we visited). In retrospect, I am sure it added to that fine NYC charm!More

Always a classic when in NY. A really nice atmosphere to have breakfast or even lunch with friends or family. Excellent omelettes, waffles and a superb french bread. Service was very good, as always. Will visit again for sure

One of the main reasons for our recent NYC trip was to go to brunch at Balthazar. It did not disappoint. The service was amazing - watching them all run around was a delight. I saw a review where it says that it was noisy....I disagree. Yes, you can hear talking. But the way the acoustics are in the room, it never felt loud. It was like a buzz of conversation. Our server went above and beyond to give us a great experience. We ordered tartine (which is essentially a toasted baguette) but our server brought out four types of jam, butter, Nutella, and maple syrup to go along with it. We enjoyed several of their signature drink cocktails along with our breakfast. My son ordered a literal bowl of hot chocolate which was absolutely delicious. The highlight of the meal for me without a doubt was the Pavlova. It was stunning to look at and tasted even better. The meringue was filled with a lemon mascarpone mousse and topped with a warm strawberry sauce. Wow.More

Where to begin. There might be service related issues here and there but the food is as consistent as it gets throughout the years. If you can’t wait the long queue for the restaurant pick up a bread next door and you’ll understand why this...place is special.More

My daughter and I went here. I hadn't been here in probably 20 years. WE had the country pate and the dover sole .They both were delicious. Service was very good and it was really crowded with a young crowd, 35 to 45, I would...say.. It reminds me of Europe. Will go back sooner next time. s 'More

Came here for a goodbye with friends and really enjoyed the experience. I do think the prices have gone a little absurd however the service is good and the ambience is nice. The steak is just OK but the french fries are out of this...world and I highly recommend it.More

This restaurant located in Soho neighborhood is amazing. Steak tartar, tomato salad, papardelle, steak au pouvre, creme brullee, anything that you ask is delicious. Come here and after walking around.
