Classic West Village spot, nice quirky bar, fast service. Good-size portions, excellent salsa verde, seafood, paella mariner and valenciana, and traditional Southern Spanish seasonings, aromas, and presentation. Not a fancy place, can be a long wait at times, weak wine list, but well worth the...More

Probably one of the longest running Spanish restaurants in NYC and for a good reason. The paella is reliably one of the best. One can actually taste the saffron in the rice.

Been eating here for about 10 years now for only one reason - the Paella. Love it love it and love it some more. For a group of 3 or more its a clear winner. Noisy close quarters dining atmosphere which makes it a fun...More

We were introduced to this tiny and unimposing place by New Yorker friends and loved it. This is not for intimate fine dining or power lunches but is an authntic, crowded, and noisy family place serving authentic Galician and Northern Spanish seafood and awesome sangria....More

Lobster in white sauce, white sangria and generations of consistent service. I dream of visiting the kitchen. Our meals here are in themselves a celebration to life and love friends and family. The light shines brightly at "our favorite restaurant" a truer truth there could...More

Severl kinds of paella without the wait in huge portions, close spaces but helpful service, lots of great tapas choices. Just an ideosyncratic little institution of a place. Nice for a casual, unusual but not terribly fashionable night out!

Literally a spicy "punch!" If you like Sangria, they make it with rum and triple sec. It will make your head spin. I had shrimp in a green sauce served with saffron rice, and my husband had paella. The food was tasty, the seafood fresh,...More

This place has been in business since the 1920s, and still looks like it from the drab, dated decor. But that's part of the experience. Delicious, traditional "home style" Spanish specialties in generous portions. Fast preparation, accommodating service, and overall, quite tasty. Loved the salad...More

Having visited Spain many times in the past, to often Spanish-themed restaurants here in the US cater more to 'quantity' rather than quality in recreating old Spanish classics. However El Faro is unique in the fact that it provides the real Spanish tapas experience. Although...More

I have been going to El Faro for 40 years - but the last visit was disappointing. The food was tasteless - partly from being over cooked and the taste - which once was dazzling - was bland. The service was slow, disengaged and made...More

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
