Passersby are likely to miss this hole in a wall for it is tiny and located on a side street off Irving Place. I discovered it by a fluke: trying to walk in to Casa Mono on Irving (a next-to-impossible feat), the staff suggested we try Bar Jamon around the corner, same owner (Bastianich, Lidia's son and Mario Batali's friend).... This is a casual bar with very good food options. It is a sister place to Casa Mono next door. Both are led by Mario Batali, a NY celebrity chef. The menu is Spanish with an emphasis on jamon, ham from the leg or shoulder of the pig. We had the jamon jamon Penelope Cruz which is a sampling of... More

I have been here a few times over the past couple of years and I love returning. Small and intimate with a relatively limited menu - but what is on it is excellent. Service is great and the food and wine are tremendous. A real favorite of mine. It is small so can get busy very quickly

This is a wine bar with a small interesting menu. The food is all cold or room temperature for they do not have anything more than a toaster oven type of heater. Fine selection of wines including sherry. It is a bar scene for those who appreciate fine wine and nibbles. The place is tiny. Definitely a must see.

We visited 3 tapas places while in NYC. Out of the three, this was our 2nd favorite. I loved the tiny little bar, it seemed very spanish. The staff was good too, attentive without hovering. We enjoyed some rioja, tortilla, and the cheese flight. The tortilla was OK, but not as good at Tia Pol. The cheese flight was good... More

I have been to Casa Mono before and really liked it. Decided to try Bar Jamon since they are part of the same establishment. It was a good, fun experience for the most part, although in terms of value it is definitely not at the same level as the restaurant. The place is tiny and reminds of a typical Spanish... More

Try this spot for lunch, its like having a small private wine party! Service is excellent. The meats are of course outstanding, the calamari and special cheeses are also very good. What a great way to spend a casual Saturday. If you want a full more formal lunch eat next door at Casa Mono. As for us, we like the... More

If you cannot get into Casa Mono, this is a great alternative. Fun bar with great service. Reminds me of those "charcuteries & wine bars" in Europe.

Tiny cube attached to sister restaurant Casa Mono next door with the most beautiful hand-cranked meat slicers for the lovely charcuteria. Gorgeous wines and sherries, tapas to die for, friendly helpful stAff of two spoil you
