We are inNYC at a conference and decided to try Virgil's. This restaurant is affiliated with Carmine's, where we have gone to for years and never got a bad meal. Virgil's is a BBQ restaurant in the middle of Manhattan. We are very familiar with BBQ from our NC residence, and wanted to check this place out. Reception staff were... More

If you love BBQ you will love this place!! I had the 3 choice dinner and portion sizes were unbelievable! I went for trash ribs, pulled Pork and brisket, fries, slaw and cornbread and none of them disappointed! All melt in the mouth amazing!! Probably my favourite meal in New York and I was here for 3 weeks!

Times Square location but off main drag. Has been around for a long time - and is authentic, even for a larger chain feel. Service is fantastic if not a tad rushed during busy times but always very friendly. Food is fantastic - portions are generous. Ribs were spectacular and could only eat 2 of the portion - hey rest... Just dined at Virgil's Barbeque in NYC. The food had great flavor, and the quantities were a great value. After spending a large amount of time in NYC over a couple of decades, I have eaten at a plethora of places both good and bad, and I was bowled over by this place. I recommend the combination platter, and bring... More

food taste wholesome; ordered buffalo wings and fortunately they were not fried like they usually are; wings had a smoky flavor and complemented with the traditional buffalo wing sauce.

Very busy had to wait about 15 mins for a table for 2 however that's what you expect in NYC. Food was ok nothing special and it was reasonably priced, just your typical American style restaurant with plenty of sport on numerous TVs very convenient location to Times Square.

I am not easy to please when it comes to BBQ as I do my own but Virgil did not let us down. The atmosphere is nice, we stopped for lunch, and did not want to eat a lot. The special was baby back ribs so I ended up eating more than I wanted. They were almost as good as... More

Great barbecue in the heart of NYC! Their pulled chicken and brisket are my favorites. Prices aren't bad considering the location. Definitely give this place a try!

Are here not expecting much. It was mega busy when we walked through the door - always a good sign. The food was awesome and portions were a little ridiculous, but very typically American. (As a Brit I find it strange that Mac and Cheese - a meal in itself - is served as a side dish!) The food was... More

Good selection, though have tried better BBQ food both in the States and in my home country. The ribs were good not nothing to call home about.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
