From the moment we walked in the vibe was energetic. Our attentive waiter obliged when we mentioned we had theater at 8 pm. Most of our party had fresh pasta. I had sea bream. All was excellent. A bread basket was served along with olives and olive oil. We enjoyed a pungent red wine with our dinner. Sweet little dessert... More

My husband and two adult daughters and I had reservation to eat at Osteria al Doge before our Broadway musical. They sat us right away at a great table and first thing the waiter asked was if we were heading to show, so they could make sure we were out on time. The servers were all very nice and helpful... We were walking around the theater district and just happened to pick Osteria al Doge because the menu looked good as did the restaurant. It was an excellent choice as the service was superb and the food was excellent. It was quite busy as it was a Wednesday and there were matinee shows to follow. Highly recommended.

I have eaten here several times and it is one of my go-to restaurants for pre-theater. When in New York I have a short list of Italian restaurants and Osteria al Doge never disappoints.

So, you are starving before the theatre but are on a tight time schedule for an 8pm show. Dinner at 6 and they are great at making sure you get in and out on time. Nice ambiance. Husband had a grilled octopus appetizer, which was excellent. My beet salad was brutal. Uninspired spinach leaves, two hunks of goat cheese cut... More

We were there twice. The first time for an appetizer of fried calamari and shrimp (very tasty) and drinks before the theater. Came back the next night for dinner. We had the mushroom soup to start with. Not a cream soup so the flavors popped. The shortrib bolognese was beyond good as was the veal. The place has been around... More

Wide selection of Italian - good wine list - not too pricy. Location is ideal and they work with showtimes of plays in the area. Good neighborhood Italian location.

A good dinner in a nice environment. We did not have reservations but they were quick quick getting us a table. Good American versions of Italian food in large portions. Nice desserts (the berries tart is very good). Good service. Overall a very nice dinner experience

Flew into NYC for a quick business trip this week, and this place is right across the street from the Millennium Hotel. Being so conveniently located, a colleague and I gave it a shot based on a decent ranking. The ambience was very nice, blend of class and comfort, and we were sat in a private table right by the... 3 of us went for pizza and it was very good. Very Italian. Thin crust, thin toppings, whole slices. Server was very friendly. Close to lots of theatres.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
