What a fabulous evening! I had dined here before and it never fails to deliver! The food is rich and delicious! Love the garlic bread and the short ribs! The french onion soup was amazing as well! Everything we had was incredible! The wait staff was very attentive and the owner came by to greet us! We walked right next... More

Been eying this place for years - we finally ate there last week and wondered why we waited so long - the French country food was delicious - Husband had the fish soup/stew and the sauce was amazing as was my dish of coq a vin. Can't wait to return and try something else. The atmosphere is a little tired,... More

Our favorite French comfort food restaurant in all of New York. Christian, Lawrence, Chris and the rest of the staff made our party of 4 a spectacular five course dining experience that will be forever remembered. The attention to details, the outstanding service and personal touches are the mark of this fine dining establishment. For the lover of excellent food,... More

This small French Bistro has been here for 50 years but I just discovered it! Very friendly and helpful maitre d and waiter took time to explain details of all the menu items. It was a complete bargain for a perfectly cooked lunch: I had filet mignon en brochette and my friend had the stuffed pork tenderloin. Each was served... More

I was staying at the Marriott Marquis and had tickets to a 7:30pm show. I came into the restaurant (around the corner from both the Marriott and the theater) at 6:45 and asked if I could be out in time for the show - NO PROBLEM. They have a very extensive selection of different types of french dishes on their... More

You have to get over the shabby (NOT shabby chic) appearance, extension cords, paper table covers instead of table cloths, etc.. The food was super. Trout Almondine the best I've ever eaten. Side vegetables beautifully prepared. In my quest to find world's best French Onion soup, this missed with a tad too much sweetness, but I really liked that the... More

This jewel is located one block off Broadway, one block down from the Marriott Marquis. We first started coming here about 18 years ago and try to make it back here with each visit the NYC. The menu is typical French bistro, and every dish that we have tried so far has been wonderful – tasty entree, with fresh tasty... More

We've been dining at this restaurant for over 30 years! It all started with Jaques and Marie when they left France fast forward over 40 years to one of their sons Chris cooking and managing the restaurant now. The best of ingredients combined with the uncanny knowledge of what works together, generous drinks, delicious bread and welcoming service? It's a... More

We arrived for a late lunch on a weekday. The restaurant was mostly empty. The servers were polite, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. Our party of four ordered four appetizers - French onion soup, lobster bisque, stuffed mushrooms and escargot. The soups were both average. I would have expected a superior French onion soup. The mushrooms and escargot were... More

Description
Pergola Des Artistes is a small family-run French restaurant, located in the heart of Times Square and the Theater district. Established in 1963, the decor is still simple and reflects Marie & Jacques' vision of what small French restaurants looked like in their home town of Cominac, in the French Pyrenees.

If you're looking for good food at a reasonable price, Pergola des Artistes is for you. If you want haute cuisine, you won't find it here. Many of the recipes were brought over from small villages in France.

Today, Christian, Marie and Jacques' son, runs the restaurant. The restaurant has always been a place where tourists, locals and the theater crowd can get a good meal and be out in time for a show.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
