My wife and I recently had a wonderful dining experience at Aquavit Restaurant in New York City. Some friends had recommended this restaurant to us and we are so pleased we took their recommendation. The decor is elegant and charming. Service was prompt and at the upmost professional. The server recommended several meals for us to try as we were... More

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant but were a bit disappointed. I did the full tasting menu with wine pairing. Most of the dishes were fantastic but I had expected a wow feeling for all of them at this very high price. +400USD for one person.

If you want a once in a lifetime NYC dining experience this is a great choice. The variety and presentation alone for all of the courses was amazing. The quality of the food and the service were unbelievably great. We were celebrating an engagement so it was a specia occasion and it needed to be to justify the price.

We've wanted to eat here for years and finally made it for lunch. It's an open and clean space - what thoughts of Sweden conjure up. Wait staff are friendly and professional. They are not afraid to make suggestions and they also are happy to explain items we weren't familiar with. The menu is laid out in an easy way... More

I believe the former pastry chef became the head chef a few years ago, and continued (and maybe elevated?) the dining experience at this superb restaurant. It's true to its Scandinavian roots, from the decor (elegantly minimalist and utilitarian), service (attentive and classy) and the food (wonderfully presented). If you are comparing this restaurant to a Per Se or a... More

we've been several times to Aquavit....in the past haveenjoyed the peaceful calm and classic Nordic flavors, quality traditional dishes...well prepared. Todays late lunch included an oddly bitter tasting mushroom soup....we asked a few questions about the ingredients to determine the off taste....but no reasons offered, no apologies or price adjustments....the portion extremely small, but in this case I was fine... We made a reservation for five for Christmas Dinner. We arrived before time but had to wait for more than 20 minutes for our table, but we understood it was Chistmas Eve and families could take longer. The service was good and we never felt rushed to the buffet table. The Julbord was fantastic, the food was very well prepared... More

Multiple course tasting menu starting with tasty creative bites. Excellent service housemade butter and bread. The meal flowed from one good scandavien themed flavor plate after plate Decent wine list Accomodating as doctor son had to leave mid meal which we had informed them prior. They modified the price on his dinner

We had new year eve dinner here. First it does have good dishes, such as starter, dessert, one of the main course . I don't like the dehydrated onion with steak, taste bitter and strange. We even found hair in one of the dishes and no one apologies for it. As a Michelin 2 star restaurant, both the quality of... More

Restaurant Aquavit opened to immediate success in midtown Manhattan in November 1987. More than two decades later, Aquavit continues to be one of New York's most popular and highly esteemed dining destinations. A pioneer on the American dining scene, Aquavit remains the only world-class modern Scandinavian restaurant in the country, and was also the first restaurant in New York to house two concepts under one roof: a casual bistro serving hearty, simple fare and a formal dining room offering refined, modern Scandinavian cuisine. Owner Håkan Swahn has always been involved with every aspect of the business, and his passion and vision are what steer the restaurant. Executive Chef Marcus Jernmark is in the kitchen every day, where his talent and his commitment to quality and authenticity are apparent in every ingredient he purchases and every dish he prepares. Swahn and Jernmark collaborate closely on Aquavit's menus, and together they provide leadership and inspiration to the team at Aquavit.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
