The food here is just ok, nothing more. The falafel, for example, is tasteless, and the couscous has lots of semolina, but not enough vegetables (also: potatoes in couscous? what a misunderstanding) and no soup at all, making it very dry. It also seems to be this instant couscous to which turmeric was added after cooking; you can tell, because... More

I received a gift certificate as a Christmas gift. Finally had a chance to go. Walked into a restaurant that has a lot of character. We started off with the humus and falafel appetizer. The falafel was light and tasty. The humus was very basic but good. I had the Tandori lamb chops with grilled cauliflower and kale. The lamb... More

Moroccan Menu is extended to French as well. Always busy, at peak times. Weekend fixed prix brunch is special, filtered water, organic eggs, and a very nice Harissa chili sauce is available upon request.

This place seems to have been there forever, but I never get tired of it. The Moroccan cuisines is fresh and good - yummy tagine - and their blood orange martinis are delicious and much too easy to drink! It's quite reasonable, as well. Everyone I go there with enjoys it. It's one of those places you just keep going... More

We dropped in on Saturday night before our show. The place was packed. We sat at the bar but still got full menu. Service was fast and great. We both ordered tangine. The lamb I had literally fell off the bone. Not really a need for a knife! Very tasty as well. The chicken tangine my wife had with apricot... More

Went for family lunch on a recent visit to New York. Great neighbourhood cafe. Busy but such a relaxed atmosphere. Food (largely Moroccan) was delicious and great value. Would definitely return and recommend to others

Although I've been to Mogador for dinner on several occasions, I especially love to meet people for lunch, or even drop in alone on a whim when I'm passing by. The lunch special of soup or salad and a tagine at less than $14 is an absolute delight. The soups seem homemade and the tagine offerings are excellent. They also... More

We had a good time at cafe mogador. We had to wait quite a bit at the bar to get a drink, then the waitresses were not super helpful but our food came sort of fast and tasted good, although simple. Nothing too crazy, but nothing bad bad either

Thank Benoit M

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
