Relaxed but cramped - particularly the restroom. Nice food: the various egg dishes are recommended. And not as expensive as similar establishments.

This place has been around since 1927 and has been in movies like The Godfather 2 and Shaft among others. You can get a cup of coffee anywhere but this place feels like a coffee house should be. We stopped in for dessert and coffee on a cold night. It is small and busy but nostalgic. If you are in... More

This is the great interior from the movie "Next Stop Greenwich Village" from 1976, my absolute favourite movie, and you can really imagine the wonderful caracters come alive in this fantastic setting, heavy and filled with stories...

The caffe is very small and the tables are tightly squeezed and yet it's cozy and very New York. We came around 6 on a Friday night and it was packed. I got the tiramisu which was the best I've ever had. The hot chocolate on the other hand was a bit weak. It didn't have a rich chocolate taste.... More

What a cool place. We found it by accident walking around Greenwich Village. Later found out it is the coffee shop that brought cappuccino to New York! And the old machine is in the corner to prove it! It's dark and mystical inside with lots of old paintings and furniture which add to the atmosphere. The cannoli was amazing!

This is a little gem if you're in the village, proper coffee I had for 5 days I stayed in New York. Breakfast is excellent too, slow service is not a problem for me if you're getting a nice cup of coffee. You have to sit inside and enjoy the lovely interior, outside is good for some people watching. Highly... More

This is an old Italian cafe with plenty of atmosphere just a block or so from Washington Square. The cappuccino comes with a dusting of cinnamon. It was perfect.

Went for a walk one of the mornings I was in New York and this was one of the quaint-little cafes that I encountered and decided to try out. Went for a cup of tea and croissant and as simple as that sounds, it turned out to be a delicious combination. Also sat outside on what was a setting on... More

This is a lovely little "old New York" style Italian Cafe, serving some truly wonderful coffee. The Italian style Cheesecake (Ricotta) was only ok. It was a bit dry and the serving of strawberries on the side a bit small. Its dark inside and the walls are lined with oil paintings. The atmosphere is really great for sitting around and... More

First and foremost it's a cafe that's around 100 years old and seems like it hasn't changed in terms of decor since then, which is kind of awesome. It touts something like the oldest cappuccino in Greenwich. The coffee is excellent. Most espresso is bitter (I love it but still) and I consider myself a coffee snob. But the espresso... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
