Fun place, especially with big groups. You're not pushed out like some places, but it's super loud. Too loud for me. But some might like it that way. Terrific wait staff.

Never can go wrong here. Fast and friendly atmosphere with quick efficient wait staff. Everything is served Family style so don't over order, pick your favorites and dig in. The garlic bread is by far the best ever.. Only in Greece did we meet it's match. The calamari is fresh and tender the mozzarella as well. Pasta and meatballs was... More

Yes, Carmine's was packed and we were seated cheek by jowl with other patrons. And, it didn't matter one bit. Carmine's lived up to its exquisite reputation with a meal for the ages. The appetizer of fried zucchini must have been meant for a Roman Legion because it was overflowing from the serving dish. The accompanying bread and oil was... More

I don't know where to begin... on a Tuesday evening, the joint was packed - from the bar to the dining rooms, standing room only. Luckily, we had reservations; so, we got right in.... (I don't recommend you go without a reservation - especially if you have more the two people in your party.) Our server, Edwin, was wonderful. Attentive... More

Make reservations! We did and were seated within minutes of arriving. We started with stuffed artichokes! Very tasty! Next we had the recommendation from the waiter. Shrimp linguine with red sauce! Unbelievable! Delicious and way too large of portion. I would definitely go back!

I have ate almost everything on the menu. I love this restaurant. The best time for prices to go is for lunch. Be prepared for a line. We usually sit at the bar because it is seat yourself.

Read some reviews about long wait even with a reservation, and maybe it's because we were there on a Monday but we were seated right away. 😀 Menu items are served family style. We ordered Caesar salad (anchovies can be ordered on the side), penne with marinara sauce, side of meatballs, and tiramisu. This was WAY too much food for... More

This is the second time i have eaten at Carmine's (first being at the Broadway restaurant) and again they delivered on taste, service and quantity. The complimentary bread brought to our table was amazing and a great variety. I could have eaten the whole lot however i had to leave some space for my meal. Hubby and i shared an... More

Description
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
