As commented by others, I found the Delmonico steak too salty. It was a large portion and excellent quality but overpowered with the saltiness. Seafood Newburgh appetizer was very old school, deep fried and lacking in presentation. Wine list was excellent.

I was excited to visit this classic NY establishment with so much history!! The restaurant was very accommodating in changing our reservation multiple times, we were waiting for someone to join us that had a delayed flight. The only regret is, I wish they would have told us what time the kitchen closed, and that we were the last seating... More

Now I know just how great a Delmonico's steak is, perfect. Our entire experience was exceptional! There was not a flaw in service from our hostess to server and support staff. Our cocktails were perfect especially my Manhattan. The wine selection was extensive and well thought out. We enjoyed a wonderful bottle of one of my favorite cabs. All of... More

We came here because my mom wanted to eat at the "oldest restaurant in America". We made a reservation for right when they opened, at 11:30 am, because we wanted the Eggs Benedict. We were seated right away in their fancy, main dining area. We were a little uncomfortable with how underdressed we felt (we were in jeans and nice... More

This was without doubt, the worst meal I have had in NYC. I ordered the Wagyu tartare as a starter. This should be meat that is so good that you dont have to season it heavily to get a lovely flavour, but it was so unbearably salty that i sent it back. They brought me another Tartare, but this was... More

We have just returned back to our hotel and absolutely hated the food at Delmonico's. We were recommended to come here for a special occasion and as the reviews seemed so great we couldn't wait to try it. If your looking for a great meal don't go here. Go to Beauty and Essex which we went to in our first... More

I read about this restaurant and its history and found that it lived up to its laurels. My girlfriend and I ate there very recently for a romantic meal followed by drinks at Cipriani (recommended, but, another review). First of all, the location really sets the scene. The restaurant is in the thick of the financial district where it is... More

Here are the facts ..Delmonicos is famous for its steak , it's fine dining reputation and white tablecloth silver service , it's literally mind boggling wine cellar which has evolved over centuries into one of the best I've seen anywhere on earth let alone in NY ..and apparently they invented the Baked Alaska dessert and Eggs Benedict !! This is... More

Visited this restaurant to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I booked by phone and confirmed - again by phone from the UK. When we arrived they kept us standing around for about 10 minutes while a lot of flapping and discussions took place. Eventually a member of staff walked us through the beautifully decorated and historical dining room, down some... More

America's first fine dining restaurant, Delmonico's has been serving fine American food to New York's connoisseurs in its premier location at the heart of Manhattan's financial district. Since opening at 56 Beaver Street in 1837, Delmonico's has been renowned as the birthplace of the Delmonico Steak, Delmonico Potatoes, Eggs Benedict, Lobster Newburg, and Baked Alaska. Upon opening, the original Delmonico's offered then-unheard of luxuries such as private dining rooms, an extensive wine cellar, innovative cuisine, and, above all, warm, personal service. Today, the restaurant continues to honour its heritage with the same warm hospitality and fine cuisine. Delmonico's menu features a range of traditional dishes in addition to the prime Delmonico Steak, aged to perfection in the aging room. Having introduced many dishes and dining customs to America, to dine at Delmonico's is to experience history.
