We were "convinced, by an offer we couldn't refuse..." by Tommy the nose (owner)... In all seriousness, Tommy convinced us to come in and eat. The free wine was chianti, it was pretty good. It reminded me of the homemade Italian red I grew up...More

They have a guy out front asking you to come inside for food and free wine. We decided to try it. Can’t remember his name. Called himself “the nose”. To our surprise the wine was ok. The baked clams should be ordered by all who...More

My brother swears by Umberto's lasagne. He dragged me there and I must admit, it was way better than "the place in midtown that's Sinatra's favorite" and nearly twice the price. The bread was fresh Italian bread, the service was quick and friendly. The lobster...More

Tempted in by the offer of 'free wine' we took a seat outside and spent the afternoon eating, drinking and people watching. All good. If you're positioned right you also get views the the Empire State Building.

If you are looking for a true Italian dining experience, this is it. Rated as "Food To Die For" ... literally ... by "Crazy" Joe Gallo I'm 1972. Historic and delicious. I wish had a third hand so I could give it 3 thumbs up.

Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest
neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors
from around the globe, especially on summer weekends
when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up
Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a
dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables,
cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised
when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in

A reservation wouldn't be a bad idea, although when we went (midweek) the restaurant was sparsely attended. Dress? Casual is fine.
