Have been visiting Joe Allen for years and it never disappoints. The little gem is hidden away in a very handy corner of Theatreland and is perfect for a before/after show dinner. We ate late and thoroughly enjoyed the comfort food (I had meatloaf which after days of really rich and fancy food was a delight!). Friendly and swift service... More

Online guide (Trip Advisor) recommended Joe Allen when walking the area near our hotel. The prices were reasonable (for NY) so my wife and I went without a reservation (don't recommend). They were able to seat us at the last table open (it was actually reserved for later). The restaurant is cozy, with excellent service (timely but not intruding) and... More

We went before the evening show Kinky Boots. My wife and I had the calves liver which we both enjoyed. The girls had burgers which they really liked. Our waitress was efficient and charming. The service was prompt. The decor was as advertised. We checked our coats but noticed that most patrons did not. I am glad we went.

We enjoyed a pre matinee lunch at Joe Allen's, and it was the perfect choice. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, our waiter was friendly, funny and helpful. I had the brisket sandwich, which was delicious. And the coleslaw and chips were awesome as well. Other folks had the lobster/crab roll, which was very tasty, and the soup of the... More

Went for lunch before Broadway show on a Saturday and the restaurant was filled. The service was fast and courteous. The brisket sandwich, salmon benedict, and stuffed french toast was very good. The only complaint was the french toast was burnt, but the waiter replaced it quickly with another one.

Pleasant and reasonably attentive waitstaff. Seated in the corner which was nice for a couple. Arrived at 4:45 with crowd building by 5:15. Open table reservation. Strip steak medium rare was thin-ish, medium instead of medium rare and great French fries. My wife had delicious scallops and small portion of Brussel sprouts. Dessert: warm apple crumble pie. So so. Service... More

Joe Allens is one of NYC more famous landmarks when it comes to restaurants. It is located on restaurant row, down the steps under a green awning. Don't try to get in for lunch or dinner without a reservation unless you want to try your luck getting a seat at the bar which is also generally full. The menu is... More

Enjoyed a wonderful meal after seeing a Broadway show. We were able to get a table without a reservation and even though they were busy it did not show in their service. We were immediately offered beverages and a fresh pot of coffee was brewed for my husband. The scallops were pan seared perfectly. The waitress was also kind enough... More

The people here were so friendly and helpful. We came here a couple of years ago because the restaurant we loved to go to had closed. They were able to fit our party of seven in at the last minute and we really loved the food, especially the red wine reduction served with the steak. I came back last month... More
